Hi
I'm putting a new show together. My character is an overwheight, has been superhero, in a tight spandex outfit I'm not going on stage as a magician (I think) but come on to demonstrate my "super powers". Any effect would have to be reconstructed to fit the theme, so I am not nessesarily looking for finished products. Not even existing effects (it would be nice though) just ideas for effects. So..... to sum it up.... I'm looking for existing effects that would fit the theme and ideas for effects I would have to invent a method for. Even if it's just a loose idea, it would be usefull. Thanks Jesper |

X-Ray vision comes to mind. LOTS of effects if you use the "One ahead" principle.

Here's some others...
You could freeze time and switch the position of the bottle using TRICKY BOTTLES... The same "freeze time" could be proven with a change bag. You could use a Hummingbird reel and snatch a silk from 20 feet away. It looks great when the silk flies to your hand. You could bend spoons and forks with your laser vision. Maybe use a wilting flower effect to start off with....also a self lighting match would prove your laser vision. A light/heavy box effect would prove your super human strength... You could prove your keen superhuman eyesight and speed with a card sword... Are planning to do a stage show or close-up/parlor type show? What powers do people expect a SuperHero to have? |

Prof Nightmare - you can stretch ropes, wow.
Vanishing Ketchup Bottle - crushed by your bare hand, inside a bag! Then it pops up elsewhere... Breakaway Wand - you get one out and it breaks on you, you get another wand out (same wand) and IT breaks on, etc..etc.. Light-Heavy Box - the kid can lift it - YOU CAN'T! I'll keep thinking... |

You could take your cape off and fly(ala Fearson's Floatation) with the super man theme playing.

Here's one Café thread about the subject of doing magic AS A SUPERHERO: Superhero magic.
Here's a different Café thread about the subject of SUPERHERO-THEMED MAGIC EFFECTS: Super Hero Theme. Don't forget, you can always use the search function for a subject, to see if it's been discussed before (in this case, using keywords like "hero" or "superhero"). - Donald

Use your "super strength" to bend (with great effort) a sturdy-appearing wand. After taking your bow, as you dispose of it, it is seen to be a spring "wiggle wand".

Might I suggest that you make your undies (over the tights) out of a looser material then spandex? You don't want to reveal magic's greatest secrets!
Super Hubert has been around Newscastle, Australia for many years. He has the super hero character and costume but his act is a standard magic show : http://www.entertainoz.com.au/acts/203.html |

You can make a regular object like rope come "alive" while voicing your command. (Stiff Rope)
Use your power of water to continue making water come out of the bowl. (Lota Bowl) Act like Mr. Freeze and create a snowstorm. (Snowstorm in China) You can really bend any trick or routine around your theme. Have fun with it! -SanCho |

Pour water into a cup and blow on it to freeze it solid (G-powder).
Rip a newspaper with your bare hands... Then restore it! Magic Coloring Book... As a super hero, you can color very fast & even stay within the lines! Use your heat vision to melt the wax off the pages leaving the pages blank! Mis-made Flag because I'm sure you'll be fighting for truth, justice, and the American way (Superman's intro). ...Hmmm, I just noticed that you're in Denmark... that might not work... Lyndel |
