I am looking for the mini baseball final loads. I found a company that makes/sells them but I have to order 150 of them. I only need three.

Stevens Magic sells the Mike Rogers final load baseballs....about 18 bucks a piece.I think they also sell a cheaper but slightly smaller type of baseball for final load purposes as well. Suggest you go to their website to check it out.

I bought mini tennis balls in the pet section of the supermarket. They come in sets of two, and are coated with catnip. wash them thoroghly once, and the scent is gone. I even cut one open to make sure there was nothing extra in them that could be funky.
They are just plain hollow. These fit perfectly under the RNT Black Beautys, with no hangups. -Ron |

Regarding baseballs for final loads -- there are many sizes of "real" baseballs, from the St. Louis Cork Ball, which is about 2 inches or less in diameter to the regular baseball at 9 inch circumference. You can get an 8.5 inch circumference ball or an 8 inch circumference ball at your better sporting goods stores, or you can order them from Dick's Sports. If you buy from Dick's sports, you must buy a dozen, but a dozen of them will cost you less than two of the handmade balls.

A good type of baseball to use for your final loads are the type used for first-year Little Leaguers, firstly, because they are smaller than regulation-size baseballs, secondly, because they are softer and therefore less "talkative" and, thirdly, because they're cheaper. You can buy them individually at most sporting goods stores.

Those are among the ones I am referring to. There are baseballs by Easton, MacGregor and Diamond that range in size from 7.5 inch circumference to 8.5 inch circumference. Not all of the first year little league baseballs are undersized. So you need to actually take your cup to the store to see what fits. Trust me on this. I have about 200 different baseballs in my boxes of load balls.
Posted: Jan 14, 2007 9:46pm BTW, I ordered some of the Australian mini baseballs today. I'll report when they come in. Posted: Jan 24, 2007 1:02pm The Australian mini baseballs came in today. They are very nice. I like the idea of a vinyl covered ball, simply because it is easier to keep clean than white leather. I don't like performing with dirty hands, but sometimes, in some venues, it is almost impossible to keep your hands completely clean. Renaissance festivals are a perfect example of this. You can wash your hands, walk ten feet, and your hands will be dirty again. The original Mike Rogers baseballs got dirty very quickly, and cleaning them was next to impossible. You actually had to dye the balls with opaque dye to keep them clean. This meant covering the threads, as well. These balls solve that problem. They feel good, too. The workmanship is excellent, far better than the current Mike Rogers balls.

Hi Bill,
I am glad you like them as I went through a long process of material selection and as you said the vinyl is the way to go. I take pride in my work as I do my Magic and would not sell or produce a product that I was not happy to use myself. Thanks for your buisness and for the great write up. Oh by the way did you like the extra ball I sent you. Cheers. Michael |

Yes, I do like that extra ball. I should have mentioned that. It would be ideal for use at Renaissance festivals, because it doesn't look like a baseball, even though the basic construction is the same. It has a kind of motley look that fits right in with the program.

I guess you're right about the give-aways. The company will even put my logo on the baseballs. But at this point, I don’t even know if they will fit in my cups.
Thank you for all the ideas for locating mini baseballs. Tony

Just a clarification on an old thread -- it's my understanding that
Michael Ammar is the only official distributor for Mike Rogers' balls. I bought mine from Mike before he passed away. He made me a set of RED balls (black stitching) which are absolutely beautiful. I think the MR red balls are gone forever as only the white ones are available now. Tony |

J.P. Jackson bought a large quantity of them from Mike's widow before she quit having them manufactured.
So the ones he sells are basically authorized. They aren't bootlegged anyway. However, the balls that Auke van Dokkum makes are the absolute best ones. They have closer stitching and look like real baseballs. A close second are the ones Michael Sullivan of Simply Magic makes. His are covered with vinyl, which means that they are easier to keep clean. His site is http://www.simplymagic.com.au/bballs.php . Remember, the prices are in Australian dollars.
