I had problems finding alphabet cards that are the same size as a regular deck of cards (the size that fit into the card holder on back of the Wacky Worm). I went to Wal-Mart and K-Mart and they sell jumbo size cards. My solution was to use a gaff deck of bicycle cards that are blank on one side. I made 26 Cap letters and 26 small letters. I also put a small mark at the top right corner on the back of each card so I know which end is up when I place them into the card holder on the back. This ensures that the letter of the alphabet is right side up.
The quality of the Wacky Worm is excellent. This is my first Wolf's Product. I will give Mr. Wiggles his first test run tomorrow in front of 288 children. I volunteered to do 2 shows for the local Head Start program. |

Hey Mike,
Let us know how it goes, I'll be trying the worm out for the first time next Monday. Have you had any problems with the book "squeaking" as the worm retreats back into the book. The spacer or felt pad helps, but during practice I've noticed a bit of a squeak on ocassion. I've tried tipping the book back as suggested in the instructions, but I still get the ocassional squeak from the wood rubbing a bit. Still works but the noise is annoying. Let me know.... Ken |

Hi Ken and folks,
I am sorry to hear of the squeeking problem. First you must know the product is not made from wood. It is a synthetic substrate. I did not experience squeeking however I am sure it can happen due to simple friction. I will experiment tonight and see what will work best for a lubricant. My first guess is any basic bar of Soap will work. The most you will have to do is remove the main screw that holds the Worm into place, slide it out and run the Soap along the lower square edges of the worm cut-out. Insert Worm into channel and replace the screw BEING SURE not to screw it down too far as you do not want it to protrude out the other side creating friction. The felt pad is simply in place to eliminate rubbing of the Vinyl Graphics against the Book wall. This can be replaced as need being sure to replace it in the same spot. I will get back to you guys tonight with the solution Please contact me personally if you have any further problems. I am ALWAYS there to support my products and customers...unless I am at a Convention which will be from May 5-16 as we are vacationing as well after the convention. Thanks for the support! You know this is the beauty of Chance and his products. He cares about what he sells and he will fix the problem with anything that he might have just so his products are the best out there. If only every person in business would do this.
Much Applause Chance! Ken |

Hi Smartini,
I just used a black magic marker the big one named 'Marks-A-Lot" to make the alphabet. It works for me... hope this helps. |

Hey Folks,
I pulled out a "rejected" Worm, tried the Soap lubrication method and it works great! Use a bar of DRY soap. Do not use a wet gooey bar. After removing the Worm, apply the soap by rubbing back and forth along the edges and rounded corners of the squared section. Set the apparatus FACE UP. Slide the worm back into the channel and slide up and down BE CAREFUL not to scuff the graphics. Remove the Worm and place one more light coat of Soap along the edges. Re-Install the Worm being careful not to strip the threads. Let the Bolt find the threads and screw in just deep enough so it does NOT protrude out the backside. This should take less than a few minutes. I apologize for the small problem and I will now PRE-LUBRICATE all the Wacky Worms as well as add this tip into the instructions. Feel free to contact me directly if you have any further questions or problems. We are not perfect but sure try our best Thanks for the support, Chance Wolf's Magic/Wacky Wolf Productions (509) 967-0832 Office (509) 947-1132 Shop http://www.wolfsmagic.com

Hey everyone,
Just got home and tried the soap method. I used Dove soap, I hear "doves" like "worms". Anyway, it worked like a charm. Now the worm glides smoothly in and out of the book. Not just "service", but UNBELIEVEABLE DEDICATION to their products and customers. Thanks Shelly and Chance. Take care and have safe travels. Ken |

I went to target or walmart and got a deck of old maid cards or any game cards with pictures on them

I would think that Haines House of Cards and Stevens Magic Emporium would have them as normal stock items. Both of them used to stock them.

I ended up using blank face bikes and applying 2 inch vinyl letters with sticky back to create my own alphabet deck. The letters are raised a bit, but a simple overhand shuffle to mix them doesn't really tear the letters away from the card. I got the letters from a craft store and the cards from a local dealer. The nice thing about the vinyl letters are they come with multiple letters per pack. So you get three or four "a"s, three or four "b"s, etc. I force the letter "y" on the volunteer, so you get the gag when you ask the letter selected, they answer "Y", and I say "because everyone would like to know the letter" so I ask again, and they say "Y" and I repeat. An old gag but a good one.

Personally I don't believe an Alphabet Deck is the best deck for Wacky Worm routine. I, like Jimmy Vee, would use something a little nicer than letters on cards. Unless you are having the worm spell something.

Dewayne,
makes some excellent points in the thread he refers to...one point to consider is that you do have more potential for a literacy/abc theme when you use abc cards...with the other cards that Dewayne refers to you do have more of a visual and some comedic opporunities...still, either way you go you win! |
