I agree with zeroG, that looks pretty good. I personally find half dollars harder to classic palm, because they don't fit into the grooves of my hands. But thats just my anatomy.

I suppose you have tried varying where you place it in the Palm? Sometimes it helps to move the coin back slightly towards the wrist, certainly I get a better muscle pass from that position. The other thing you may find is that you are applying too much pressure and essentially muscle passing the coin have you tried a lighter touch?
Guess the other alternative would be to forget the classic palm and go for the world best muscle pass (Just Kidding). Hope you get it, I would say it is well worth the effort to aquire. Regards Linkster |

Actually, I haven't really mastered the classic palm, but I have already gotten a start on the muscle pass already.
In the thread "World's best muscle pass" I described how I was able to pop the coin out 1 inch from my hand. For the classic palm, I still am not able to move down lower. It seems as though the place I am currently holding the coin with, is the most suitable place for me. I do not have any strong muscle on the lower palm, therefore not being able to handle the coin there. I am trying a lighter touch, but it would slip off as soon as I turn my palm upside down. Thanks for the advises.

Personally, I started practicing a few slights and concentrating on the classic palm 3 days ago. I had to jam it in there with my other hand first to make it stay then I walk around with it there, use the computer mouse with it, try to do as many task as I can. And after three days, I can already start classic palming with a lighter touch (not jamming it in with my other hand). When I started I thought I would never get it. it kept slipping out and I felt like I never had the right position. Slowly, slowly, I see my pinky starting to "dimple" on the back of my hand a little showing me the i've got the right place. A few more months of practice and it should be great.
My Advice to everyone starting out: DONT GIVE UP!! You'll get it! Be frusturated! Your suppose to be!! its NOT SUPPOSE TO WORK right away!! Its not a natural way to hold something and will need a LOT of getting use to! YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Chris, try the open side of a plastic soda cap, that has more grip and give. The grip should be gentle.

I only started coin magic in June, but since I constantly held a coin in classic palm for most of the summer (sad, I know), I can comfortably classic palm any size coin from a nickel to a half doller. As I said before, don't give up. Oh, did I mention you shouldn't give up? -Alex |

I'm not sure if I should really try to master this classic palming.
Because one of my reasons for learning the classic palm, has been granted. I only wanted classic palm in the beginning just to learn muscle pass. and somehow I've managed to get the muscle pass right now..So I don't know if I should learn the classic palm or not. hey dancin_carrot, what tricks can you do?

I never keep my hand straight when classic palming. I sometimes classic palm when holding another coin at my fingertips. This provides motivation for the hand position. Keeping the hand in a stiff, flat position looks unnatural. |

My favourite routine is a version of Dan Watkins' "Sticky Coins" (which is a version of J.B. Bobo's "Gadabout Coins", which, according to his book, is a version of "The Alleurian Coins" by George F. Wright... holy cow ...). I have not performed it for a while since my half-dollers, which I find easiest to Classic Palm, got washed down my washing machine (???). |
