Does anyone know where I can find the most extensive study of card-naming to date, for this side of the Atlantic (UK), cheers.

I can't say it's the most extensive study but a good start would be Miracle Thought Projection in Richard Osterlind's "Dynamic Mysteries" (pages 37-46).
