To say that we attack new pursuers of XCM is totally inaccurate. I remember just a few months ago when I was starting to learn XCM, and the tremendous support given to me by all the HL guys. What we don't like is people who do magic and call it XCM, and people who disrespect XCM and respected XCMers.

Yahu I think you misunderstand, he's talking more about XCMers telling early flourishers to come up with their own material, when they haven't been at it 1/10th as long as De'vo, Jerry, etc, have. It's the two-hand cut people, not so much the beginner XCMers, who are being told to come up with their own stuff.

Call me magician! That's what I do, I don't do pure card manipulation. Someone that ONLY does card cuts and no magic, go ahead and tell them what to do instead, they are probably more interested in joining the art of XCM, but I will stick to what I do no matter what you say or do.

I'm not "angry" at those that don't come up with their own stuff.. neccesarily..
I'm just "angry" at those that do nothing but one kind of stuff. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to beat up someone becacuse they do a lot of cuts, it's just annoying .. that's all. They could learn so much more if they only spent half the time they spend on endless cuts on other things that are new to them. This goes out to all the flourishers as well.. How much flourishing do you practise compared to how much magic you do? If you do floutrishes (like to spice up the magic), shoouldn't this mean that you shud work a lot more on the magic than on the fancy manipulation? Excuse me if this had no meaning to you guys. But I truly don't know what you practice, and how much... I'm just curious.. that's all. (I do some two handed cuts as well.. along with other stuff...) |

Driver, I practise magic a lot more than I practise flourishes.
And I use flourishes to spice up magic. As I say, magic is usually boring online, that's why you don't see me make magic videos often, but if you ask me to show you something in real life, I will for sure not show you a bunch of cuts, I show you magic.

Excellent Video dude.
Who cares if some moves aren't perfect (although they looked perfect to me) I couldn't do a single thing he does in that video, I wish I could though.... |

I agree with Mad Mat. I liked eWiz's vids...
This forum is suppose to be for encouragement and help. I did see a little help, but mostly negative comments that no one could benefit from. I enjoyed the video and am light years behind that level of talent. It's nice to see homemade vids of tricks...it's all good! Keep your negative comments to sponsored competitions..not here. Peace out, Sonny |

I loved this video, the only problem was that only one of the flourishes you did was what I wold call good. All the other stuff was messy and unsmooth. I loved the cuts, and with a little work you could make them great. Just keep working on them.
Stick to the classics,

For a card n00b like me, there's nothing I like more than Kick Arse flourishing, Kick Butt music, and more Kick Khar-Ch'ng* cards!
And guess what, you choose to keep it simple. Nowadays there are too much videos that highlight their ADOBE PRIMIER EDITING skills rather than their flourishes. Keep it up dood. You did one of the BEST flipback vanishes I have EVER seen. Better than De'vo, IMHO. *Hokkien/Fujian |

I liked the vid Jason, it was nice. Good sybil, maybe a little smoother? Speed was good though.
I enjoyed the many different Genesis variations (atleast that's what I think they were) and I thought the flipback vanish was really nice. Cheers for an entertaining few minutes. |

Ok .. I know I'm at least three days behind everyone else.. but here we go...
Out of all the people I've seen submit video's, I think I respect Jason the most, not necessarily because he's the best but because, 1) He takes more heat than anyone else. 2) He never reverts to name calling or even being negative 3) He takes all the negative stuff people say and puts it right back into his video. Even though more than half the junk he gets is in NO way constructive, he still turns it into a positive. 4th and lest... He's just really friggin good... Okay .. this video... I really like it. I'm going to agree with Yahu, don't compress the Video... I don't know squat about that stuff.. but I think everyone here is willing to wait the extra time to download your material. Some will whine about, *COUGH* me *COUGH* but everyone will still DL it. Next I think your new video camera is a POS... please mail it to me, and I will gladly dispose of it for you. j/k... I think the video was brighter and clearer than the one where you wore an arm brace for example... just once again, no compression. Next, I'm going disagree about the adobe editing or what ever... Once again I don't know how to edit videos.. but trixx was really Plain... I think that is better for your teaching videos... maybe put some small effects inbetween the scenes for you busting skillz videos. Personal Opinion. you went off Camera around 1:11... just with the cards. I thought all the color changes were great... Rob Stiff's snap change is the only other snap change I've seen and yours is way better. I thought the cuts were great, your other videos had faster smoother cuts though. Oh and I wanna Ask About your one handed Fan.. Looks like you did a smear fan for the flipback vanish and the one in your new avatar. After reading Jerry C's bit on that in his EOPCF, I'm agree'ing with him and thinking the smear fans don't look that great. He has a method in there for his right one handed indices (sp?) fan... but I still can't do it... What's your take on that? Do you prefer the smear fan? Cause you're doing it with the backs of the cards facing out.. I would say do a right handed blank fan, it'll look more circular with than the smear, and you'll only see the backs so it won't take away from the trick. That's my default one handed fan, till I get the indices fan down. Once Again just my two cents. Other than that I thought the content of the Video was great... My only suggestion, would maybe be to instead of putting all the color changes together in the beginning would be to put them inbetween the some of the cuts... that way you won't lose some peoples attention. Oh yeah.. it's cool that you shoot some moves from the side and some from the front... I think just standing in from of a wall the whole video just looks like your in a line up or something.. definitely a great video Keep them coming |

Hey 4Jacks! Thanks for the critical comments!
My web host only upload vids under 7 megs (I think lol). ...I also think that 5 megs is the perfect amount for a video. lol...I use crappy Windows Movie Maker (I have Premier 6.5, but I am lazy and haven't learned enough of it yet). The only problem with the one handed indices fans is they DON'T WORK WITH OLD CARDS!!!!lol. Smear fans are faster and work with more decks. Thanks for the great comments! Jason

I liked the vid. Very few people care that the video wasn't dvd quality. You can see everything clearly, so complaining about compression is just ridiculous. The point of Jason posting this video was for other people to enjoy and to get some feedback, not for him to get his stones broken about his camera.
All the moves in the video were great. As far as the "sloppy" cuts and all, I'm sure with time and practice he'll iron those out just fine. I personally didn't find anything that was glaringly "sloppy" anyway. Also, Jason has been nothing nice in his replies to everyone here. Even though he's been getting smacked around by some people, he still has nothing but nice things to say (all for posting a great video, which, I hope he posts more). Good work. |

Hey jason
I liked this video a LOT more than I liked your last one rolling. To me, the camera quality seemed ok (let's admit yahu, it was much better than the one you had ). As some have said, a couple cuts were a bit sloppy and I kind of thought the first 2 colour changes were a bit sloppy too. A strange thing though, I loaded your video the first time I clicked it and watched it, then a couple minutes later after reading some comments about how your charlier routine looked like a member of the Virt's I clicked again to watch again and the link didn't work, but it was still the file on my WMP so I was able to watch again... And I compared it to rkzad's decknique preview. maybe it's because I haven't seen Elijah Cai's move, but when I compared to rkzad's routine (and I did look a couple times)... it looked pretty much exactly like it except that rkzad doesn't extend fully outward like you do. in other words... I think that credit was ok - unless daryl or kev is referring to the first little Charlier/OHR routine that you do? Oh yea, and the fans are looking pretty good... just keep practising P.S. I'm not a fan of rap music, but ehh that's just my personal taste.

Are you referring to rkzad's Decknique video, Jess? I have not seen it yet but what I can say now is that Elijah Cai released that hand movement in a video by his team Virtuoso, for some film making competition (only released to some because it was meant more for lay people)... and it was last year when the video was completed.
Anyway, I haven't commented on Mr. Soll's video yet. So all I have to say is that the stuff in there were sloppy...gotta have those packets squared alright! And the overall feel wasn't powerful enough to blow us all away...Keep working Mr. Soll. And I hope to see another video of yours in a LONG time because I hope you'll spend more time on your next one yeah? Don't just release videos as and when you like...but make people WAIT for one. That's all I've to say for now... Peace. |

Yea I was talking about rkzad's decknique video. if elijah cai's was first, then I guess it should go to him instead, but that's been covered.
