Yeah...wait another couple weeks and I'll be there. Look for the guy relaxing with a hurricane in one hand and a muffaletta in the other. Seriously, though, be sure to go see Harry Anderson at his shop(s) and I hear his "speakeasy", Oswald's is opening June 1st.

Keep you eyes open, and there is plenty to see.
You probably wont see much magic in Jackson square unless Ostawa is there. And he is interesting to watch. Watch how he draws his edge and marks his pitch. But also check over by the old open air Coffee house (Cafe something, cant recall the name, but if is not far from J sqaure ) and look around on mall area there. Usually can find a Musician around the coffee house, and a balloooner around there, and you may even catch a magi, if the sun shines. But don't miss Steve's advice, check out Harry Anderson's shop. Go to Royal St. on busy weekends you can find a decent amount of performers there. Dante is in town, so you might see him. Not sure if Koz is coming down. I would work the pitch, but NO just feels dirty and unsafe. For those who care, I live in Biloxi, MS. I'll be over there Fri and Sat enjoying the city with my gf. The open air Café mentioned is called Café' du Monde. yummy stuff. to the right is a big pitch that you might see some acrobats use. Good show, BIG crowd. pay attention to how they draw their edge. Enjoy.

Yes, that's it Kasper, Café du Monde. Now what are those tasty little pastry things called?
I forgot about the acrobats, etc at the steps across on the river side of things opposite the Square. Man do they work the crowds. And they don't do the finale until the buckets (yes buckets) get passed around. The spot right on the Square right in front of the Cathedral, is the spot I picked when I was there. You get traffic from 4 different directions and if you can draw at all, you can do very well there. And a dead man could draw a small crowd there. Too bad I won't be down there again for a while. I would love to see Dante work. But who knows Koz? I told you I was making too much money at my day job to busk ful time, but they just cut my pay significantly (30%) and are now looking to replace me with a lower priced person, so who knows? if they are successful in dumping me, I might just be out there somewhere this winter. Awww.....you have to leave the real job!...that would suck travelling the world in a motor home with your wife...going to terrible places like boulder or new orleans or key west or the west coast...or europe or autralia....wouldn't that just suck!
:) I once had a real job...never, not one time did I regret leaving it.... I'm blessed to be able to do what I do and grateful, og so grateful cherish the opportunity koz |

Since I have been working full time in technology since I was 17, (43 years) and I love what I do, it would hard to leave it, unless I couldn't make a fair living at it. But if/when that happens, then I am prepared to suffer the slings and arrows of travel and excitement of a buskers life.
Don't know if my wife would travel with me.... In fact, I am pretty sure she wouldn't. A vacation trip that includes me doing some busking suits her fine, but more than two weeks away from family and she is really to go home. But if she didn't, then I would have a home base to come back to between road trips as long as I can sned her some money Anyway, it is out of my hands, so I don't sweat the small stuff. But I will keep sharpening my skills, and reworking my street act, just in case....And besides, I love to do that too. You are definitely blessed to have made the decision you did, and I see it in your performing. It isn't just a job. It is good time to be had by all. And when I grow up, I want to be just like you BroDavid

Those French doughnut things are BENIGNETS...little squares of powdered sugar coated heaven. Especially after about 8 Pat O'Brien's Hurricanes and 8 hours at the piano bar there. If you're a coffee kinda guy (okay, I'm not, but it's more like a Starbucks frappucino on acid), stop at a little restaurant just down the street from Harry's house and get some Spanish coffee. Harry bought some for us after dinner one night. It's like a full production. Flames, lots of alcohol, creme fraiche..oh yeah, and some coffee, too. Okay...I do drinks a bit (there's a line from a famous song about New Orleans) while I'm there. Anybody else gonna be there in about 2 weeks?

Ah yes, my taste buds are now busy reviving my tired brain cells and painting my tongue with flavor, and my beard with memories of powdered sugar!
I quit coffee a year ago, but only becuase I was drinking 20-30 cups a day, and finally decided "That cant be good for me.." But a cup like you described sounds like an intriguing idea. Wish I was able to get away.... But I have too much stuff going on over the next 60 days. But I will be down again in Nov/December. BroDavid

Well, it rained (imagine that), but I had a fantastic time. Harry's shop, Sideshow is fasinating, but he wasn't there. He is opening a new club, so he's very busy.
Somehow, I missed any strret magic, but that's ok, since the whole city is magic. Azrael

I caught Dante's show Sat at 440, his show last 40 mins. nice show. And I saw another magician doing doorway act, only 3 tricks in and out quickly. Both acts were on Royal St. I'm gettting a sore throat now, once it goes away I'm planning on diving back in to the streets, I miss them. It's been about 2 years. For those that have worked N.O. how is it during the week, or should I stick to the weekend?
