I've been into walkaround magic for a while, and I have recently heard of a magician that performs at a fast food restaurant, I believe Wendy's. I was just curious to hear if fast food places are really a good place to perform. In my opinion I think the environment isn't a good one, I just wanted to hear what others thought.

It may make it harder to elevate yourself up to quality gigs. I draw my lines, and I'm sure others have theirs.

Any place that has people is a good place for magic.

Like at a funeral, murder trial, or execution? No thanks!

Most of the folks I know who work resturants do so in order to generate private shows.

How many of the folks who eat a Wendy's are likely to hire you for a private show?

The people who eat at fast food places are the same folks you'll find at other eateries. As for Sanders Ive done magic at a funeral for the children and don't tell me right and wrong. I would love to demonstrate an act of magic before an executioner at his last wish, I would be honored. Murder trials are always fun for card under the seat effects.

There are a couple of local (Melbourne, Florida) magicians that perform at fast food places. These gigs have morphed into paying gigs at kids parties at a bowling alley and finally into private parties. It seems like a long road, but they get a lot of exposure/live practice and paying gigs. Not sure of the fee's they charge.

LMAO Ross!! I do all my murder trial performances for free in hopes of attracting new clients. Anywhere you perform is good publicity.

Who would want all those fats and stuff on their props?

Watch Super Size Me and you might not want to perform at fast food restaurants.

Did he pay you with a post-dated check?

Buskers would do good with prison performances as they would have a 'captive' audience............

Years ago when I worked at Arby's, there was a local magician that would come in and do a quick trick for whoever rang him up. He would then give out a balloon sculpture (not sure what to call it because he never made animals) with his business card attached to it. I found that to be pretty clever.

I think that magicians who have worked behind bars would do even better.

Some thoughts.
I doubt that many fast food restaurants would pay what higher priced establishments would.
Most customers of fast food eateries are on a limited budget or in a hurry.
If you're starting out, I see no reason why you shouldn't work these for the experience.
