Hi Guys:
One week ago I read some posts in Magic Café (which I can't remember now) that there is a wonderful version of "Signed Card in Box". Characteristics of this version are: a) The signed card is first placed on the card case b) Magician's palm is placed on the signed card and presses against the card case. c) The palm is turned over, the signed card is gone! d) Magician opens the card case, takes out the deck, and reveal the signed card from the deck There is a link in that post, which after I clicked it, I was directed to a movie clip which showed me the whole routine - as summarised below. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of this wonderful piece of magic and the location of the post. Could someone please tell me the name of this effect and the whereabout of this post? I am also curious as to whether this effect is available for sale now. Many thanks! |

Could it be Ray Kosby's "Jack in the Box" from "Impossible Card Magic"? His is more of a visual vanish of a card from the top of the box. After the vanish, the card box is opened and the card is removed.

Thanks. However, I am pretty sure it is not Ray Kosby because the guy who performs in the movie clip is a difference person - that magician is not Ray Kosby...

Kosby's effect is different. The card disappears suddenly, in full view (it is onto the case, which is hold in biddle grip), and is tossed from the box alone, without any other cards in play.

Yes! Meltdown! That's the one which I have been looking for! Thanks Engali! And thanks to others who have contributed their opinion
For others who are interested. The link is: http://www.coolcardtricks.com/meltdown.htm On the top left hand corner, it is stated that "This item is currently under construction." However, I managed to add this item into the cart. So is Meltdown available for purchase? Next, it is not specifically stated, is Meltdown currently sold in PDF File or will it be shipped to our shipping address? We need to specify it in one of the paypal pages. Any idea guys? By the way, I heard that Tommy Wonder has a very good version of card to card box, does anyone know where I could learn it? From DVD? From Books? Thanks |

Hi everyone,
First of all thank you for your interest in Meltdown. I'll paste the desciption of the effect first and then I will answer some questions in better detail... A card is selected and signed across its face. The balance of the pack is placed into the box and the box is closed and sealed with tape, a postage stamp or anything you wish! The selected card is placed on top of the box and the magician presses lightly on the top of the box. When the hand is removed, the card has completely melted away! The sealed deck can then be cut open and the cards removed by a spectator. The signed card is found face up in the face down deck! *This effect can be performed at ANY time! *There are no gimmicks, in fact the deck can be borrowed! *Audiences litterally flip when the see the card melt right through the case! Ok so to begin, the item that was under construction was the link to the news section. I now see my wording error on there and it has simply been removed for now. Meltdown is available in PDF form. Upon purchase, you will recieve and email within 24 hours containing the PDF file. I check it several times a day and usually get them out within a couple of hours. We're working on making it instant and hope to have it that way soon. This is effect is 100% Impromptu. The only thing you need are two hands, the cards and the box. There are two ways to end the effect. One andling involves taking something away and adding it later and the other does not. It's going to be up to which presentation you decide to take. Both are equally powerful...I most often take the version that does not need anything to be added again. The angles are great. I perfer to do it 3/4, however I have been known to do it surrounded with a sleight adjustment in the handling. The fun thing about this effect is the action of taping the box shut. It really "seals the deal", (pardon the punn), and helps nail the spectators in the end. I'd be happy to answer any more questions if anyone has any. Thank you, Chris Stolz Stolz Productions

For those who know about this effect, is it suitable to be used as ending for Ambitious Card Routine? Thanks

Yes it is. It would work great as long as it makes sense. During the course of your routine if the card kesp jumping to the top you may need a reason to have it melt back into the box. As long as the patter supports it, it will work great.

Zhuanan,
Get the Tommy Wonder books. For the price of a set of DVD's you'll have close to 600 pages of his material and a lot if essay between. I personally don't like his card in the ringbox, But there is a lot of goog stuff in these books. Card in the asprin tin is good. Eugene Burger has a version in one of his books ans Scotty York had a version in Genii when Jim Patton was doing Magicana ( 1970's ).....Mike |

The Book of Wonder vol1&2.The Magic Warehouse or Daytona Magic will have these brilliant books. The DVDs are also very good.Plus you can see how the effects appear, and marvel at Tommy's amazing thinking and ability. You have to see his misdirection to believe it.Unlike Mike I love his card to box.

On the site under the soft window effect it has one of the benefits as "Audiences litterally flip when the see the card melt right through the glass!"
Wow! Card through the window and somersaulting spectators! Just kidding...Meltdown looks great! |

It looks like its being sold only via http://www.magic-notes.com/thenotes/deta......t_id=157
There is not a videodemo available on that site. I have no idea about the credibility of the site, but I would surely like to see a demo and have some more reviews. It sounds like a great effect - but don't they all - untill you see the performance. This sounds like having great potential. Any more reviews? |
