Hey all, wondered if there is anything on the market that would make it look like I pricked my finger, I would do it for real except I'll be doing this table hopping and don't want to pass out from blood loss. That and I'm deathly scared of needles lol.
Also is there a pen that writes in blood colored ink? Thanks!

My first thought for both is A&B blood ...The chemicals used are hard to get, but A&B is on the market. About$30.00. Also, you might find a diabetic and ask him/her. Finger pricks are easy...

As someone who works with blood often, in my day job, if you do a blood prick for real in an eattery, you are asking for trouble.

Take a hanky and pour a little red ink on it. a few drops will do, 2 or 3.
Make them towards the center of the hank. Place the hank on the table folded as not to show spots. Bring out a needle and (get this!) pretend to prick your finger. Grab the hank and dab it on your finger as you expose (can I use that word?) the spots. Ouch! Nothing need to be said as they see the blood. Magickman

Hm what Sir T said makes sense. Should I just forget the whole thing? Sanscan A&B blood is a great idea, but probably not good if I'm going to be doing it over and over all night because you probably need to keep reaplying it. A red colored pen I don't think is realistic enough to be taken for dried blood. Magickman, thanks for the idea, I may go that route, substituting the hanky for a piece of flash paper. Though I kind of wanted to drip the blood onto it.

NightBringer, I think what would work is a hollow needle that you can store a drop's worth or two of fake blood in. The problem is, I'm not sure where you'd get one, and if you did, how realistic or phony it would look. Perhaps you could use the needle used in the "needle through arm" effect, and just shorten it.
More specifically, I was thinking along the lines of the "trick" where you take a drinking straw, dunk it in a glass of water, hold your thumb over the top, pull the straw out, and the water stays in the straw until you remove your thumb. You'd just need a small vial of fake blood in your pocket that you could refill from between tables. And of course, one that doesn't spill it all over the inside of your pocket. One other idea that's rather far-fetched: tiny blood bags, latex, perhaps, on each fingertip, concealed w/ makeup. You could do it 8 times a show, one on each finger. How the heck you'd do that though escapes me right now - I'm actually tired and it's not even midnight yet !! Not to mention they'd probably really get in the way of other effects/moves and stuff.
Just hanging out with the rest of my fellow dregs.

Possible a fountain pen using red or even brown ink as blood tends to dry a brownish colour.

When I perform my seance, after the glass smashes I have a cut to my face! All I have done is dip my finger in a small amount of stage blood I have in a container behind the altar and as I hold up my hand to my face (as though some glass has hit me) I smear a small drop on my face. When I remove my hand - a cut to my face, very simple and VERY effective.
For table hopping you could have a small sponge soaked in stage blood (thin stuff is best - believe me I have seen a LOT of the real stuff)inside a plastic bag in your pocket or prop bag. All you then need to do is to quickly dip your finger into the bag. If you want a pen that writes in blood use a quill pen and an ink pot with red ink. Keith Hart

If you are going to mix up your own batch of blood, avoid the Karo syrup and food color route. Its too translucent and ends up being a huge sticky mess. Kryolan is probably the best product on the market for blood. ...Other than the real thing of course.
