Robert-Houdin mentions in his description of the Aerial Treasury a stage illusion called the Shower of Gold. It is the production of a vase filled with coins. He says it was to be published in his Stage Magic book, but it isn't there. Does anyone know if there is any information about his workings of this effect? I can come up with workable methods, but I am interested in how he handles it.

Thanks,
Richard

I think there was a method in the locked books (dover reprinted the one) or in Hoffman's for a table that loaded the coins in. It was a merry go round affair where the vase lower beneath the table and then was raised back up.

Thanks Richard,

I found it in Hoffmann's "More Magic" What a crazy idea?! I was thinking more along the lines of a load like the one used in the production of oranges, but this mechanical table is great. It's not the most elegant solution, but it does seem like something Robert-Houdin would have the mind to put together.

Thanks for the help,
Richard

Houdin also had one that the coins slide inside a ribbon into the suspended glass box.

I'll pm you another idea.
