Just FYI, I've been ending my stage hypnotism set with PK Touches. It's a way to ensure that the entire set ends strongly, no matter how the effective or ineffective the subjects' performances were before that. Knowing I always have a powerful, surefire conclusion gives me a great deal of security and the confidence that goes along with it. It's worth considering.

The Ormond McGill book is wonderful,
how about doing some of the psuedo-hypnotic things in 'Body Magic' by John Fisher (obtainable through most libraries' reservation services), or the real thing from Ormond McGill, the ones involving altering the taste in someones mouth would be a nice opener, not very visual though... or Georgia Magnet stuff, it can all be weaved in there, under the guise of suggestion. |

PK touches sits well in a hypnotic set, the hand movements look very similar to the passing movements that stage hypnotists sometimes use and the spectators will see it in a hypnotic context, less likely to look for a trick

Paul, PK touches IS Banacheks. Such a great routine.
Paul Everson, can you tell me a little more about Patterns of the Hypnotic Technique of Milton H. Erickson? Sounds interesting. |

Yeah, it's one of the books that started the whole NLP thang - but it's so good I guess we have to forgive it for that.
It's basically a disection of the techniques Milton Erickson used as a hypnotherapist - It breaks down all his language patterns and techniques into a form where you can learn how to use them. After studying the book ( and I reread it and refer back to it all the time ) you'll understand WHY the things in the stage hypnosis books work, be able to create more effective and powerful suggestions, cut out all that boring repetition that seems so prevelant in trance induction - it really is rather amazing.. Surely there must be plenty of folk on here that have it? |

I will definitely look into it. It seems to be available on Amazon in the US, but not in the UK Amazon. What's the best place to get it would you say?
You say it cuts out the repetition - surely that is a factor in inducing hypnosis? I am intrigued - does this mean that this book enables extremely rapid inductions, or is it more waking hypnosis? Many thanks, Simon |

I think I got them from amazon in the UK - quite a while ago so I'm not 100% sure - I'll PM you the publisher ISBN etc..which may help you order them.
It deals with trance induction and waking hypnosis but not in the traditional sense - the boundaries ( if they exist at all ) are blurred between the two. There is stuff on rapid induction, Erickson of course invented THAT technique so favoured by THAT mentalist - but the book is written from a therapy point of view where rapid induction isn't really an issue so it doesn't focus on this. As far as I can see the use of repetition is something of myth and the content of this book is about as far away from the "you are getting sleepy, so very sleepy" school of induction as you can get.. Sounds great Paul. Not interested in the hypnotherapy side of things myself, and prefer the rapid inductions/waking hypnosis type hypnotism myself (unless its a posthypnotic suggestion to drop to 'sleep'). This book sounds very good.
I would very much appreciate any information you have on the book's source. Simon Also Paul, is there more than one volume of this? Simon |

Understand it all depends on context. Lock eyes and you have induced trance. Look it up in Ormonds Encyclopedia. There is an eyelocking method that works on everyone as it creates a situation where it is physically impossible to open the eyes.
If you use this eye locking method you have taken care of the need to have the b???s to do it. You have locked them in and they are convinced you are the real deal. All the sleep suggestions and everything else after the locking are deepeners. They have to be used if you want to get them into a state that will work for the show. The New Encyclopedia is the absolute must have but your training really starts once you do your first show. Having actually done it you will suddenly go aha to everything you have read and it will shed a new light on the topic. Just go do it. Martin
