I want to ask something about my bicyle deck... I'm sure that many of you use the same brand like me, so I ask there... I open a new bicycle deck about a month ago (that's my first time using bicycle brand, as it's not popular deck in my country, because the price is expensive) and yesterday I checked my cards's sticky one anothers. so I decided to use fanning powder. but now I feel something different with my deck. do you use fanning powder?

No, I would only use it for flourishes. If you are experiencing this when you feel they should be like new, make sure you wash your hands before you use them.
Another tip is to buy a few decks. Use one for performing, and when that wears off use it for practising and mark the box as 'old', and keep a new packet just for performing. It keeps them in life a lot longer! Tony. |

There may be other similar brands available. I use Stratus Linen Finish which are very similar but cheaper.

Depends on the cause of the stickiness. Always wash and dry hands well before working with the cards. When using fanning powder, a very little bit goes a very long way. Shake or two into a paper bag with the cards, shake it up a bit and that is generally more than enough.

TCM,maybe I just forget to wash my hand before I use the cards. on the first time I used bicycle deck, I always wash my hand before using it.
Photius, I put it on a paperbag, but I shake it not a bit. I shake it for about 1 minute... |

Yeah, I've been using my Bicycle deck for 2.5 years now. It's really getting sticky, but I don't want to buy a new one. I have tried fanning powder and all kinds of stuff. Now it's quite hard to separate cards one by one. The ink on the cards is also coming off. The Kings and Queens are beginning to look very similiar. Is there a way to replace the ink? I'm thinking about some paint that you can get from dollar stores.
Also the cards are very bent now and some of them have tears and stuff. I've tried glueing them and it has helped a bit, although they became more sticky. Also ironing them seems to improve their condition a bit. They also smell bad, maybe I should try some kind of perfume on them? lol What? Buy a new deck? ahhh.... I don't think I'm ready for that kind of investment... by the way, does anyone sell used bicycle decks second hand? I'd be interested. |

2.5 years!!! Wow!!! New deck is all I can say. Search around and you might find a deck that feels like a bike but cheaper. You'll be surprised!!!

Felix was being sarcastic. How we can get ridiculous trying to extend like of a card that should be buried and instead buy a new deck for $3 or whatever it costs. Sarcasm isn't very effective to use if others are less familiar with English in my opinion.
Try a couple different packs of bikes and see if they feel different because you've never had a bike deck before. |

When my cards start turning worn out and sticky, I practice my mercury folds, use them as dupes, and practice my torn and restored. Anyway, always good to have a few decks around, since it will grow old on you regardless. Take care of your cards, they can last you a long time depending on your performances.

Yes, NEVER dispose your older decks. Keep them in the box, store it. A few months later, open it up and use it. You would surprised how good it feels.
As for the sticky part, I think its just your hands. The application of fanning powder is only when it's used n old, not cos of the stickiness of the new deck. D.
Don't think too much.
Just hit it. |
