I've never really understood why knit balls became so popular with magicians for cups/balls routines. They don't look like anything in the real world, and thus to me have always screamed "prop". That said, has anyone run across any rubber balls gimmicked for a chop cup? I know Norm Nielson used to supply them with his chop tea cup, but no longer. Thanks in advance for any help.

Use mini baseballs instead. Or gaff your own rubber balls. It's not that hard to do.

I have always felt that the knit balls "screamed prop" only to magicians, who see these balls offered with C&B and Chop Cups. They are balls, and people see balls in hundreds of styles, colors, textures, etc... all the time.
Knit balls do not 'talk' as much as other balls. Probably one of the reasons for their popularity. Mark

I have always thought that it would be really cool to do a no bounce routine with chop cuo balls....get the balls and have them crochets?.....could be great theatre

Hard foam balls are quite easy to shim. They can be found at pet supply stores.
