I tried posting in a different string and did not get much help. Maybe the Coin guys can help me.
I am trying to learn CUFFING and am having problems with where to find decent material. I learned about it I think in one of the Tarbell books but I really want to get into it now. I know it is a little outdated but please keep an open mind and help me out. Thanks in advance.... JPV

JP, welcome to the other side of the island here...
There are many books that deal with the subject, but a good first book to visit is Bobo's Modern Coin Magic. I believe it has a chapter on Cuffing and besides that it takes you into Sleeving, and down other wonderful roads to travel. Besides that, just sit back and watch all the good stuff that'll come your way from the "Coin Guys," - Open Sesame! Good Luck with it. -MB

Ill second JB Bobo's modernd coin magic. If you can find it get New Modern Coin Magic. It has some added material in it. This was my first coin book and the one I go back to again and agian.

I agree with the above posts, JB Bobo's book has a nice section on cuffing and sleeving. For coin work, this book is a great resource.

The difficulty with cuffing is that it is usually just a one way transfer. That is, you only ditch to the cuff, you don't recover from it (as you can with sleeves). I've read a few tricks where you drop a coin and use the cuff to recover a different coin previously loaded in the cuff. However, this loading technique would require a convincing accidental dropping of the coin (and a control of the dropped coin such that it doesn't roll away). Worst yet, all of these tricks have been written in a "If you want, you could.." fashion [ie, the exact details are very sketchy, possibly reflecting that it wasn't something the authors performed often].
I think your best approach is to work backwards. That is, take modern tricks and try to replace pockets/sleeves with the cuff. Personally, for the performance environment you described, experimenting with hook coins or sleeve cuffs would be more useful.

The two versions are "Modern Coin Magic" and "New Modern Coin Magic".
If your budget allows I suggest the latter as it has a couple of extra chapters. |

Well, the guy is looking for new ways to go with an old technique. If you could recover from a cuff (ie, ditch to and take from), the technique could be revived (would be worth reviving). Why not?! It MIGHT be worth experimenting with.
