I got Prism today along with Strong Magic, but that's not the point. I need some suggestions as to effects that can be performed strolling. I'm interested in adding a little mentalism to my act but cant find any effects that don't need tables or somthing. Can someone give me some recommendations?

You want presentations from those books for close up or effects in general?

Enigmaticmagic,
why don't you just read Prism? There are many effecrs that can be done strolling, for example "Your Choice" seems to me to be a perfect opening effect. You will gain a lot by reading the entire book.

I'll say it once, it'll be said a thousand times - start with Corinda and Annemann, and get a foundation and understanding of mentalism first. Almost every 'effect' in mentalism can be done standing, with a little thought and presentational twist.
Prism is indeed a superb book, and as Mishel said, read and reread it, then work out what appeals, and hoe the effect could be worked BY YOU, in the conditions you want. Simon |

I second the motion, read the book. Read the other books, Read all the books you can. If you can't do it strolling by the description, change it to fit your needs. Make it yours. Always make it yours. This will be the way that you will believe you are truely reading their minds.

I would agree that, Prism is not the place to search for "a little mentalism" to add to your magic act. Much of Prism relies on techniques that are not easily grasped by someone new to mentalism.
Beyond the other more basic works mentioned above, I would suggest making the journey you have started your own by reading through Prism to see which items inspire you. It is a wonderful read if you approach it without preconceptions. Cheers, Tom |
