So...Fruity Pebbles comes out with a box that states 1/2 The Sugar!!! It tastes just like REGULAR Fruity Pebbles.
BUT...They also came out with a new Regular Fruity Pebbles with Pink 'whatevers' in it. It tastes MUCH sweeter. So...in order to have a cereal with 1/2 the sugar they doubled the sugar in the REGULAR box? We can all learn from this...what, I don't know...but it's Friday and I was tired of reading of Double Lifts and burning Angels... :)

Is this a new version of the flying eagles where half the sugar in one box magically appears in the other?

Considering how much cereals are being sold, that is no doubt the biggest magic trick EVER!
My favorite brand of chips released a bag of chips with "20% less fat! same flavor!". Certainly there was 20% less fat. As they had reduced the contents by 20%. Usually buying "family-size" packages is cheaper, in here anyway. Unless you're eating bacon. The family-size is way more expensive, if one calculates the price per pound. But what about that McDonald's executive who said Coke is a good source of nutrition...

Doug, your Fruity Pebbles' ad executive was merely attempting a paraphrase of a famous beer slogan, and came up with, "Twice the calories, half the taste", although I do have to ask... how does a desire for Fruity Pebbles and a concern for sugar content factor into the same equation? Oh, sorry, I forgot. This is about the cheating through semantic manipulation. Maybe Kenton Knepper works for Post.
Watch WalMart carefully... Rollback prices often begin by first raising a price for a brief and unnoticed moment and then "rolling them back" to a third price somewhere between the other two. Have you noticed that truth in advertising never seems to catch on? In its day, Jolt Cola openly bragged about the increased levels of sugar and caffeine, but after a brief flurry of sales to the curious, it seems to have played out in favor of "energy" drinks that give you wings and other bodily anomalies. Populus vult decipi, decipiatur.

The food and drinks industry can certainly teach the magic business about smoke and mirrors. So many programmes recently about Supermarket tactics and food production, and an equal number of food scares.
What's interesting about Doug's initial post is the fact that if a company can produce a cereal with 50% less sugar, which apparently tastes the same, then why wasn't that the norm to start with?

This is true! Some cereals are touting "Extra Iron" in their brands. It's there in the form of powdered iron. It can be extracted with a magnet...

If it has half the amount of sugar that means you can eat twice the amount!

Exactly...though they may be adding some recently developed sugar substitute, I'll have to look at the lable some day...way too lazy at the moment. One would think though if they COULD get away with less of this or that it would be cheaper to make and thus a priority.

One time I saw a statement on the side of a box of some kind of crackers that claimed: "Now... Even More Snackable!"
What the Hell does that mean, anyway?

Snackable. (snak * e * bull) adj. NAE. the ability, quality, or characteristic of being able to snack on a bull, or any part of a bull, or any by-product of a bull. Term commonly and regularly used by marketing companies that scrape the bottom of their idea barrels, and are only left with bull-type concepts and/or references. syn. bologna, baloney, balderdash.
