I am looking for the right powder/powders to use as Mummy Powder, that will flare up when burned in a flame. Creamer? Equal? Anyone?
Thanks Dave

Dear Dave,
This goes up against Café rules, so I have sent you a PM. Yours, Paul |

I was going to say ... how does this go against the rules ? He's not asking to make flash paper or an explosive.
Lyco powder, simple answer. Creamer works too, but not as well I suspect. I'll have to get my hands on some Lyco to compare. The rules here are funny. For example, I don't see anything barring questions on enriching Uranium.
Just hanging out with the rest of my fellow dregs.

Well then, as long as we are speaking openly, my first answer in the PM was Lycopodium Powder. A cheaper substitute is Cremora, but you have to keep this dry using silica gel packs. Apparently, other creamers won't work.
I wouldn't add enriched uranium. If you want the glow to persist in the dark, you could try radium powder. It won't be that bright a glow, but you will get an enormous amount of publicity, and a chance to talk to some interesting people in a windowless room. Yours, Paul |

How much uranium do you mix with the Cremora to get the halo glow?

I remember reading in an old victorian magic book that you can put phosphorus on your hands and face to make them glow. However your face will probably fall off!!! Maybe it is a test to see how dedicated to the art you are?

A note: Lycopodium powder looks like it could BE Mummy powder...
It ranges from a tan to yellow, is grainy, and you can just toss a little pinch into any open flame... Slim

I bought some very inexpensive coffee creamer( Not Cremora) and it works pretty well, but it isn't too consistant.
Thanks Dave
