I've been working on this routine and as you know it is 14 minutes long so my question to those of you who do this routine.
Does the crowd lose interest because of the lenght ? Do you use it for christmas shows ? Thanks, HowDini
Question: How did you do that?
Reply: No! How did you didn't do that, HowDini did that. |

I don't know of the routine, but if it is funny and entertaining, people shouldn't loose interest. Time flys when you're having fun. Is it possible to shorten it? You could always try that. Try it on some kids around where you live, see how it goes.

You know you are a magician when you have boxes full of lecture notes you have never read, but still are excited about going out and buying more.

I thought this routine was about 7 minutes...maybe it's a routine I've never seen....14 minutes is a LOOOOOONG time unless the way you play it is just KILLER. Still, even then, you may be "livin' on the edge" with 14 minutes of puppet.

14 minutes is probably the length of the entire cd or tape...this might include the rehearsal version as well as the performance version?...just a thought

Smartini, the original performance version is 14 minutes long.
Chris Mcbrien, They cut the routine in half and sell it as two routines now. But the original was 14 minutes long. When I did the 14 minutes routine they love it. It's how you play it. Emmett |

Emmett, Thank you so much for your response.
My version is of course the original 14 minute routine. It's good to get an answer to my actual question Best Regards, HowDini

If I go to a concert to hear someone sing, is the two hours show to Loooooong too, with only singers? I bet you don't have a puppet. Emmett |

Well, Emmett, if that is your real name, I come to this forum for the same reason everyone else does, to celebrate differences of opinion.
Did you ever wonder why Axtell broke the routine into two parts? Just because one performer wants a 14 minute skit does'nt mean the next one does. It's all a matter of opinion. And...I have 5 puppets. Why do you feel so obligated to mock me and attack me for a difference of opinion. Especially considering the fact you have no idea who I am or what I do for a living (I do magic and vent full time, averaging 200 shows a year). Attitudes like yours are what I teach thousands of school and library children a year to avoid. You only get the respect you give. Chris Howdini, you had multiple questions.....just a quick correction. I hope you understand that my mistake in Axtell's original routine was a natural one considering he no longer markets it because it did'nt sell as well. P.S. Do you know what the difference between an entertainer and a magician is? One works in their field as much as they want while the other begs the theater manager to let them in. |

All our AxTrax routines sell well, but we get more requests for routines...about 4-6 min long. It's easier to memorize and get the timing working on shorter scripts. We are in the process of making more right now. We just released 6 new ones.
We're making a new Drawing Board AxTrax on "Houdini" (you talk about the worlds greatest magician while drawing Houdini and he comes to life)..so if you have suggestions please email me directly at steve@axtell.com! Ax
