(Note - I have absolutely no affiliation with Mentalism+)
I am thoroughly impressed with this system, and would recommend it for anyone wanting to add another layer of impossibilty to their act. (For those who don't already know) Effect: Locate anything metal anywhere. Can be used for coin in hand, bank night, russian roulette, kurotsuke etc. Thoughts: This is a highly advanced and versatile piece of electronic equipment. The 3 components ensure complete invisibility and discreetness of the device when suitable clothing is worn. The scanner head unit is about the size of a pack of staples. The vibrator unit is about the size of a small mobile phone, and the battery pack the size of a small chocolate bar. The whole thing is set up beneath your sleeve, and under your waistband. Midas was the first 'big' magic/mentalism purchase I've made, until now I've restricted myself to a few £70 DVD sets. When I first opened the box I was pleased that the ad photo was not remotely exaggerated. Some people may argue whether the price justifies the effect, but in my opinion it does - reactions have been phenomenal. In theory, the effects are self-working when the methodology employed is Midas. I would not agree with this - this is a device that requires manual and performance skill. Good routining is essential to point people away from such a solution. Coin in the hand, for example, is improved greatly with quality misdirection at the time of 'the move' (when you hold the scannerhead over their closed fist). Please also remember that you need to practise with Midas for this effect. I would say (based on personal experience) that on the first day of using it you will get about 80% accuracy, then 90% on the second, and then 100% from then on. I have found that it may not be advisable to have metallic objects in your left pockets - since that side has the scanner head - as it would mean getting a constant vibration when your hand is at your side. Overall, though, the main strengths include its invisibility, silence, the fact that the 'move' only takes 2 seconds, the effects you perform are only limited by your imagination, and that you can wear it anywhere (for example for use through a table). A great buy in my opinion. Scott. |

Im worried about the "state of my imagination." I just cant seem to think of anything to far away from the already outlined effects that acompany Midas. Has anybody thought of anything truly different to do with it? Apart from the obvious with a small vibrating divice?

...another possibility... think about the Penn and Teller effect at the pool last night (which person has the dollar)... not sure what method they used, but this should work...
