I don't know if anyone else has done this. I've never heard of it, so I'm guessing no one has. If someone has, then my apologies for not doing my homework.
An idea occurred to me this morning and I won't be doing anything with it, so I'm passing it around. Take a lightweight briefcase. Drill a hole in the center of the bottom and attach a metal appearing cane inside. Attach a piece of plywood to the bottom of the cane. Collapse the thing. Now walk on stage and release the cane. The bottom flies out. Set the thing on the plywood base and you have a little table with the briefcase as the top. If this is a new idea, feel free to use it. If you know otherwise, please let us all know so we won't be ripping off someone else.

Would even a metal appearing cane support a whole briefcase, even a light weight one? I have an okay appearing cane, and I wouldn't trust it to hold much of anything. I like the idea though.

I saw some where, some store was selling a table where it had three legs on it that sprung out like an appearing cane. It was designed for camping trips I believe to save on space. The table was about 18 inches in diameter (I believe) and was selling around 20-30 dollars. Someone said they were going to buy one and rip the legs off for some cheep appearing canes. I'll have to ask how that's going and see if I can find the table again.
George- I would still consiter your idea original Derek Merdinyan |
