I was at a store the other day and recieved a five dollar bill in my change. Seeing writing on the bill, I decided to look closer. It said please check this site, http://www.whereswilly.com. A little apprehensive of what the site would contain my curiousity got the better of me. I had trouble finding it on google at first but finally found it with words containing Wheres Willy?
Willy is the name of the five dollar bill!!!...same as his brothers..a ten and 20 dollar bill. It was amazing how much Willy has travelled back and forth across the country!!! He's been to Nova Scotia, Ottawa, back to Nova Scotia, then on to Montreal, then to Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC..the entire country of Canada! Each temporary owner of Willy would post what they did and where they picked him up. What a humorous idea!! Had to share. Chrystal |

Very cool!
There was actually a movie that followed a bill. If I remember correctly it got into the lives of the people who had it. Junkies, Corporate heads, etc, etc, or something like that. Quite unique. |

Where's Willy? is the site for tracking Canadian currency. The counterpart for tracking US currency is Where's George? These can be a lot of fun to play with, and sometimes the travels of a particular bill can be quite interesting to track.
Another similar program is Book Crossing. For this one you leave your used books at public locations, then other people pick up the books, read them, and eventually leave them at other public locations. The idea is to get books into circulation, free for each next reader. All the travels of any particular book are tracked on the web site starting from the time you "release" one to the public. Greg |

Geemack mentioned 'Where's George'. I came across a bill with message asking me to go to the site. According to the serial number, I was able to follow George's travels. Just nuts! Good God! if that dollar could talk! Hahaha. I entered George's number, mentioned 7-eleven where I found him posing as change, and off he went. Pretty neat.

Thanks Jaz, Geemack and Randy for the responses!
I agree the Where's Willy, George and Book Crossing is really interesting. I wasn't aware of this before, but it seems like it's been around a while. Now I have to think...where am I going to leave this bill..and maybe a book too? Chrystal |
