I am not sure if you all know or not, but Jay Sankey's exclusive contract with Penguin Magic expires August 31.
While Sankey will still sell to Penguin, he will also be selling to other dealers worldwide as well. A lot of his old products are being re-released (such as the infamous Gemini Pouch), and will now come with a full-length instructional DVD. For us card magicians, stuff like In A Flash will have the new DVDs too, and from what Jay says, there will be some cool new handlings for this deck. He is re-relasing the cards with more realistic burn marks as well. Bigger Finish will also have an instructional DVD. I think the gimmick here is genious, and I'd love to see whatelse he has in mind. Lets hope the new system doesn't let us down like a lot of his Penguin stuff did. Personally, I think it's a great move for Sankey, and magic in general. Now that his audience won't be almost exclusivly the teenager beginner magicians that Penguin is known for, we might see some top notch material from him again, instead of some of the half-baked stuff he's put out in the last little while. |

Yeah, I think this is good news also. His new dvd sounds pretty good too.

With Sankey, a lot of it is 'hit or miss'.
Hopefully, it will be more hits this time round! He is a genius, whether you like it or not, and he's come up with some killer material, but has his own fair share of duds. I feel happy for him that he's getting another kid though! Good for him!
You've been hit by, you've been struck by, a smooth criminal.

Well, even marlo had some duds. Come to think of it so did Vernon and everyone else. You don't want to know how many duds I've had to go through just to create a performance piece. It's almost scary...

I think that's great news and I'm sure we can expect quite a lot of fresh material in the near future. I think networking is going to make a big difference and we can expect to see some competitive pricing. You have to admit, it's hard to keep his material on the shelves.
His website is also getting revamped and will be better than ever! On another note, having met Jay personally, I wish him and his wife all the best. Dominic |

I think Jay has a great magic mind. I appreciate the work he's given us magicians. His Topper Force is still one of my favourite forces to use.

This is awesome news. Before Penguin his material was great. Then it did get bad. Hopefully it will be back up to par soon.

Quote: You nailed it. Watching some of their demos for sophisticated mentalism effects is cringe-inducing. It's clear Penguin gets a new item in, their performers try it a couple of times-- then get in front of the camera.Iceman90 wrote: Now that his audience won't be almost exclusivly the teenager beginner magicians that Penguin is known for, we might see some top notch material from him again, instead of some of the half-baked stuff he's put out in the last little while.
