Now I know that we have more than 5 senses. I know the 6th (visual imagination, mental imagery – the language of the brain, as Richard Busch calls it.) and the 7th (your kinsthetic sense, not sure about the spelling there but its basically the feeling of movement… I think, the example I read was; if you close your eyes and wiggle your thumb, that your kinsthetic sense detecting that not your sense of touch.) but what about the rest?!
Or at least, can any one provide a good source –preferable on the internet- for me to find out more about what these other senses are? I get the feeling many of these ‘extra’ senses are out-growths of our main ones and scientists are just being pedantic but so am I! Can you help me find out more about our ‘other’ senses?

As as a Timelord I am acutely aware of time and the passage of time. Even in humans, the sensation of Time must be one that merits recognition although physical and psychological factors often affect one's perception of duration.

I found Doug Dyment's comments on the matter in a thread called "Can Science Ever Prove the existence of the Sixth sense?" but I was looking for more info that some might have.

As I understand it, from reading in this area, there are six senses. The first five we are all familiar with. The sixth is "proprioception," our body's sense of its position in space. People who have damage to the area of the brain responsible for proprioception find themselves unaware that they are leaning to one side or that one of their arms is dangling in an awkward position. I highly recommend reading the works of Oliver Sacks, the neuropsychologist who wrote the book Awakenings (upon which the movie was based). His books The Man Who Mistook his Wife for a Hat, and my favorite, An Anthropologist on Mars, contain fascinating and frightening case studies of people with neurological disorders of this sort. In reading his books, one becomes aware of how fragile and precarious our senses are. All it takes is a chemical imbalance, a minor stroke or a knock on the head, and the world is never the same again.

According to Wikipedia, "...it is generally agreed that there are at least nine different senses in humans..."
It's an interesting article. |

Did you know that when you dies, the last sense you lose is your sense of hearing?
That's why they call it a near-deaf experience. :) (I don't think that is true. The last thing you do when you die is SMELL!) |

You'll find an intriguing list of senses in Angelo Stagnaro's book, "Conspiracy". Most of them would resonate with even the most rational of audiences.
