Here is an idea I never did anything with. There are many toy or small pool table games that include small pool balls and pool cues. Of Different sizes on the market today.
I thought it would be a good idea to use one of the small pool cues as a magic wand. The small cue balls or another ball like the eight balls. (The magician would need several sets of these small pool tables to get enough of the pool balls to do the trick. And match them up with a large set of real pool balls for the load balls and then do a cups and balls routine with these props. Just an idea that might make the cups and balls fit an act of a pool shark card shark.

Sounds like the Stephane Bourgain Chop cup. Very nice from what I hear.

Yes, it is Stephane Bourgain that has that routine which I believe cost about $125 and is available from Hocus-Pocus among others.
He, also, has Chop routines based on Dice and Dice Cup and Tennis Ball and a shortened and Chopped Tube of tennis balls.

I believe Glen is talking more about a C&B routine, not Chop Cup. It wouldn't take much to gather the props for such a routine. I've seen toy stores with bins of 1" or so rubber 8-balls that would work well for this without having to go out and buy up bunches of table top pool sets.
He didn't do a C&B routine, but there was a performer at this year's IBM convention with a whole close up act based on a mini-pool table, balls and cue stick as a wand.
No trees were killed in the making of this message, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

I purchased the Merlin the Magician Chop Cup from Bill Palmer a few months ago. It has the routine he did on the Renaissance Festival circuit for more than 20 years. It ended with the rapid fire production of a billiard ball, a cue ball and an 8 ball. I saw him do this at a lecture in Arkansas. It's quite strong.
I think Pete Biro does a pool ball routine with a chop cup or with cups and balls, as well. |

I mentioned this idea to Terry Vecky in Chicago about 10 to 15 years back and right after that he started to load his cups and balls with real pool balls at the New York Lounge.
Clark Crandall has a chop cup routine in Tarbell and he loads an eight ball. At the time I was doing the Jim Ryan Cups and balls routine. I think the pool cue as a wand and the pool balls make a novel idea.
