Hi guys,
I'm looking for some advice and hoped that one or more of you could help me. I've just been searching through ebay and a seller with the username Greatoaks11 is selling a Ten DVD set which as well as teaching the viewer Hypnotherapy techniques using simple magical tricks also claims to reveal how to do everything Derren Brown as ever done. The item number is: 6204189587 - I won't provide a direct link for reasons which will become obvious in a moment, but its on ebay as this is posted. Here's th paragraph of the posting which got me curious..... CONFESSIONS OF A HYPNOTIST (Secrets of Magical Therapy & Mind Control) DVD set supplied in the viewing format to suit your country If you’ve ever seen the Likes of Derren Brown on Television and wondered how did he do that? Then let us tell you now it has nothing to do with NLP and for the first time ever on DVD Dr. Jonathan Royle will reveal to you in a simple step by step manner all of TV’s Most Mind Blowing “Mind Control” Secrets and what’s more he will also teach you how to integrate them into your Hypnotherapy Practice to get speedier results with your clients. If you want to truly look like a Miracle Mind Reader or pass yourself off as a genuine Psychic or Clairvoyant then you need to buy this Ten Volume DVD and CD set today! Royle demonstrates tried, tested and proven to work Cold-Reading techniques, the likes of which are used by Derek Ackorah, John Edwards and other so called genuine Psychics and then he teaches how to apparently make contact with the dead and actually give specific information like names, dates and places thanks to a technique called the Centre Tear which has been closely guarded by Mentalists & Psychics for years. He also discusses and explains in depth how to perform many of Derren Browns most famous routine such as making a bookie pay out on a losing Horse or Dog Betting ticket and in fact blows the lid on just about every one of Derrens most closely guarded Secrets, Routines, Ploys and Stunts which have never been revealed correctly elsewhere until now! You’ll learn the true secrets of the Psychological Entertainer, how to mentally force people to choose specific items such as Furniture, Colours, Single Digit Numbers, Flowers, Wild Animals, Double Digit Numbers, Shapes, Places, Vegetables, Forms of Transport, Playing Cards, Words, and much, much more! You’ll learn the true inside secrets of the “Dual Reality Principle”, see it demonstrated and then be taught how to use this mind-blowing secret to duplicate just about everything Derren Brown or any other famous Mentalist or Psychic has ever done on TV. You’ll also learn several complete Mentalism and Psychic Routines which all use everyday objects or the items supplied on the enclosed CD-ROM which comes with the course and alone is worth a fortune to any working or wannabe Mentlaist or Magician. Indeed Master Copies for most all of the props required are included on the CDROM in Microsoft Word or Publisher format so you may print them out on your computer at home and start performing these reputation making routines rapidly, and the others can easily be constructed using everyday items which you will probably find around the house. Indeed you’ll learn enough Professional Mentalism, Psychological Entertainer Secrets and Psychic Ploys on this Ten Disc Set to enable you to perform a complete Two Hour Theatre Stage Show which will rival even the most established names in the business including Max Maven, Banachek, Bob Cassidy, Richard Osterlind and other leading names. WHAT WORRIES ME ARE THE FOLLOWING THINGS...... 01) The set is by that dreaded Royle character and on searching his name thru this forum I find 99% bad stuff about him and only 1% good. 02) The Ten Disc set is on ebay at just £69-95 this seems too good to be true and to me seems a bit cheap if the set truly does teach what it claims! 03) I am also worried that if I did decide to buy this set and then assuming it actualy teaches what the ebay advert claims, started to use some of the material in my act that this may be illegal? - Any ideas who owns the copyrights on these items? Just knowing the set is by that dreaded Royle character is bad enough, and before someone suggests I ask the seller Greatoaks11 these questions I ALREADY HAVE and his answer was to direct me to this weblink..... http://www.magicweek.co.uk/magic_reviews......osis.htm The thing is the site is run by Duncan Trillo who I know to be a totally trustworthy person and this review is apparently about the actual seminar which I am told was filmed to make this ten dvd set? Has anyone got this set? If so is it worth buying/ I'm confused Royle's name puts me off, yet the advert back up by Magic Week Review seems very impressive indeed for just£69-95. Could someone who al;eady has this set please give more details of whats on it also? Cheers Jon |

Beware anytime the promotional photo for selling anything is a guy leaning on an expensive car.
It's obvious what that suggests. This also reminds me of the Bl*ine C*pperfield exposure DVDs without their permission. Beware whenever names are dropped like Derr*n for ill-gotten gains. If indeed he is selling off proprietary "secrets" developed by the people he suggests he is a thief. My suggestion to deal with thieves is to fight fire with fire. I will throw in a dollar with the rest of us so we can all make a single purchase. One thing I did note is that the Ebay Seller has a high reputation (feedback) rating and is a power seller. With that in mind the seller him/herself may be legit. Sellers like that do not want to tarnish their reputation so my suggestion is that you email the seller with the same concerns and report back here on the response. Now...I know I did not answer your question so let's see who here owns this set and can provide the review you requested.

OK - I get the idea the message seems to be don't BUY!
However I'd still be most interested in a review if anyone has the set? Or perhaps they are too embarrassed to own up! LOL Jon |

There is a very daming review of his stage hyonosis cds on the mental-list.com
A friend of mine got stung for £700 for the cds and the course. He never went on the course because he couldn't stand Royle on the Cds. They wouldn't give him a refund either. hes down £700 |

Shrink Says there is a review of some of his proucts on mental-list...
Could anyone please advise how one goes about joining same mentioned forum, and perhaps in the meantime Shrink would kindly copy and paste the review here. Have been in touch with the ebay user again and he tells me there should be a review of the above mentioned DVD set in the next issue of MagicSeen Magazine. |

I haven't seen the set you refer to, but I have watched the 10 DVD set - 'There's No Such Thing As Hypnosis'. I have no affiliation with Royle, but this set is superb. I was pretty sure hypnosis wasn't real before, now absolutely convinced after watching this. His seminar got a really great write-up on MagicWeek too so I know I'm not alone in enjoying his teaching. Buy from ebay rather than his website as a lot cheaper. The DVDs are not studio quality but quite watchable with good sound quality. I can understand people who make a living from 'hypnosis' being pretty annoyed at Royle though.

I'm working my way throught the hypnosis dvd's now...
His theme, "there's no such thing..." has been done before. On one dvd a woman discusses it and Royle closes with, "...you're deluding yourself if you believe that." Much of his argument ends with a similar note...he's right, whether you know it or not. Actually, I don't care about that...it's distracting is all. As a stage hypnotist his opening show was unskillful, to put it politely. His therapy, introduced as basically your inner adult bossing around your inner child, is also questionable. He seems to really like a story where he ends up telling a woman he stains his bed thinking of her...I know it's supposed to illustrate something, but he really needs to get a clue what is innappopriate material. He seems to love the con-man persona to the extent it interferes with his teaching. I know he's looking for a hook to set him apart, but this isn't working. Still, there are many dvd's and much hope...occasionally I think I see his real persona peek through and it is charming. His experiences will be much different than mine, so I do expect to get my money's worth...just haven't yet. If you like the theorizing you will like these dvd's...so far it isn't much for performing but he is just jumping into it as I get into the dvd's further. I think it is too early to tell... |

Just recived this months edition of Magicseen, No Royle Review, however a set of "Hypno-Tricks" DVDS advertised at rear of magazine which seem very interesting indeed and which I have just ordered over the phone.
Am told by Greatoaks11 (Ebay userid I originally contacted) who turns out to be owner of Publishing Company which markets this stuff that review should be in next issue. Indeed has offered to send me the first disc of Confessions set FREE as I bought the Hypnotricks so tat I may review it and decide whether I want to buy the rest of the set. Also said as a now existing customer would offer me a discount of future purchases. Royle may be a complete Tw*T however this guy Peter Hill who I am told from horses mouth has purchased Royles entire Copyright on all his products seems a genuinely nice guy indeed. He informs me that Royle has nothing to do with the business anymore and sold out to him over a month ago. Apparently he used some of the purchase money to pay for that X-Type Jag with the personalised number plate which he is pictured with on ebay. Also was informed by Peter Hill that Royles 560+ paged Hardback Book "Confessions of a Hypnotist" subtitled Everything you ever wanted to know about Hypnosis but were afraid to ask will be in all worldwide book shops by early January with a retail price of only $35. Sounds like a Bargain to me! |

It's darn obvious he is selling himself by clariying all those X-type Jaguar and I doubted a stranger would have known so much about Royale's customer and took so much bloody time wasting to "investigate" about him.....Jonathan Royle the Weirdo (jontheweirdo),just admit it and get banned, alright!?
Never ever have bad thought, you never know who is listening....
