Kadz, its really hard to compare the two considering the material is so different. I really like both, but that is also because the effects on these sets fit well within my performance demands (i.e. both dvds have routines which can be done impromptu, in intimate style gatherings.) For my money, the types of tricks taught on these dvds are more valueable than some new 4 disc extravaganza of a performer I've never heard of, showcasing his twenty minute professional ambitious act which requires a thirty card set-up, two deck switches, a close-up pad and five double backers.
Like I said in the review, I consider both "The Side Steal", and "Up In Smoke" to basically be master classes dealing with one move (one for cards, the other for coins) that can be incorporated into your repetoire and take your magic to new heights. If only all dvds could offer a fraction of that! |

Shikina,
I regret that I don't know who you are, given the nicknames that are used on this board. Thank you for a thorough and thoughtful review. While I'm glad that it is a positive one, I really appreciate your attention to detail. Best regards, Paul Cummins |

WOW. Why can't all magic DVD's look THIS GOOD. This blows the L&L and all the other companies out of the water! The DVD also covers practically all the issues I was having with my side steal. Incredible DVD Mr. Cummins. This is really THE best way to learn this extremely useful move. Anyone who has Fancy a Pot of Jam and wishes to learn the side steal MUST watch this disc.

Hi kissdadookie, I agree this is a brilliant DVD and I can't even start to praise especially the Top Card Cover Side Slip highly enough, it's an absolute killer and has spectators going wild. The routine "Bar None" has been a regular of mine for quite some time now and I think it's a fine example of how a simple trick can have the highest of impacts.

From looking through the L&L catalogue it looks as if they might have recently done a dvd or dvd set with Paul. I hope to hear more about that soon, because I really enjoyed this release of his, and love his From a Shuffled Deck In Use material. While I doubt the production qualities of the L&L work will look like this one, I'm sure the material will be just as good...whatever it covers.
Anyone have any details? |
