Does anyone have any suggestions (beside Chubby Checker's The Twist) for good music to use with the Twister Illusion? Thank you.

Actually, I have been thinking about this a lot. The 1950's theme is way overdone. I suggested to Terry Evanswood, since he performs at a country music theater, to use "The Honky Tonk Twist" by Scooter Lee. I suggested to Chezaday, since he has a rock and roll theme, "Round and Round" by Ratt or "Runaround" by Van Halen.
Any song with a "round" in the title may be good. (I haven't thought of a "mascho" song to use if I ever do this in my show.) I really think people need to be a lot more creative with the song for this illusion. Wes |

It doesn't have to be a twist/turn theme, just upbeat.
I know that Zigmont did the Egyptian theme for his show before, but you could do "Walk like an Egyptian" by the Bangels. Or, just go crazy with "Dare to be Stupid" by "Weird Al" Yankovic. |

You really need to use music that fits your show and your persona. If you try to use music that is good for the illusion the way someone else does it then you are just doing there thing and not your own. It might take you a little while but try to listen to some sound tracks from movies that you like, I have found a lot of great music from that source. Plus, you get the benifit of a lot of that music is just for the sound track and is not on a regular album.

When I was perorming this illusion I tried a lot of music. Basically, the illusion is strong but still a throwaway. I think it plays best if it isn't taken too seriously. What worked best for me was the Beatles, Shake it up Baby now...twist and shout.
If you remember the song or Ferris Beuler's day off movie, the music really builds and right at the highlight of the song, something like Ahhhh,Ahhhh Ahhhh Ahhhh Ahhhh I would open the doors to show her twisted and the crowds were so excited the applause really hit hard. Im not sure if it was the illusion or they were into the music, but that's my 2 cents. |

There´s an older movie called "Twist of Fate" with Olivia Newton John and John Travolta. The main theme is very upbeat and maybe goes good with the illusion.

Funny you should post this, because I was just saying that too many people do "the twist" with this routine.
My new twister will be here today from Oz Illusions. It's a custom job with lot's of gears and knobs on it. It even lights up when I throw the big switch. I will be using "Weird Science" as the song and doing a "science gone wrong" theme with it, you know, lab coat, test tubes. Should be fun, rehearsal starts tomorrow! Keith
