Hi, I thought of a cool idea for halloween if you are a profesional. (magician of course) You can dress up as a magician, and maybe do a very, very quike trick to them, and use Jim Paces "Hot Leads" and hand out your buisness card. I might do this, but only if I get my confidence up so I can go proffesional. thoughts and ideas wanted!!! -Cory

I think it's great idea, perform something quick and fun and drop a card in the bag or hand it to the parents with your pertinent info.
For fun I do quick Tarot readings. Even though I have a Ouija board, candles, a black table cloth and the ambiance is somewhat of a spooky nature, I hand them a card with a smile and tell them I do Psychic Parties. All the info is on my card and I've gotten some good work from doing this. It's great because they come to me! I just sit out there in the front yard of my dark mansion and have fun! Of course I can't help moving things with the power of my mind, or display the mysteries of the tarot ala "The Aeon Reading" (available on my website). Cory, you have time to prepare, so I would suggest you go out there and do it! Halloween is perfect for this sort of thing. Even if you're not ready to hand out cards, at least have some fun. People will enjoy it and you will only gain from the experience. This is a great way to break the ice. You do want to make it entertaining though, and quick, this is what will sell you. Good luck.

I was just thinking that I should do Lite flight. Visual, easy, and good to see in the dark, not to mention quick. But a lot of people know about invisible thread, and I just know that I will go out there and people will be yelling "Nice thread!!!" So, thyen I thought of some thumb tip stuff with a silk. But then theyll just say " youve got a fake thumb!!!" And Im not gonna do any card or coin tricks. What should I do for a trick???

What incredible misconception to think people will say "you've got a fake thumb" and even the thread comment....
Here is a bit from my Oafin Jinn eBook that may shed some light on what I think about your comment. "As far as the TT, I have a comment to make. I find that many young performers don’t use it because they are afraid someone will spot it. Blatant insecurity. They feel awkward with it on. I understand, long ago I was once this way as well. This occurs because as soon as the fake thumb goes on, they feel “obvious” and “unnatural”, and they no longer make the same natural, casual gestures, instead trying to compensate for the Thumb Tip somehow. One way to overcome this is to wear it all the time; while driving, eating, in the shower, wear it so you will actually forget it, and do the normal things you usually do. What this exercise will do is make you react more naturally to the Thumb Tip, causing it to become truly invisible in your hands. When you’re gesturing naturally people won’t feel the need to search your hands. Look your spectators in the eyes, forget the Thumb Tip, and they will too. Of course you should keep in mind that the tip of the Thumb Tip should mostly point to the spectator’s facial area, as this will make the thumb truly invisible even if they look directly at it. But do it naturally, your own way. Record yourself using it, you’ll see exactly what I mean." There is no reason why you should not use a TT if that is what speaks to you. Now as far as what tricks to do, you should find the ones that speak to you on some level. What are you interested in? What moves you? I would suggest keeping it mysterious for Halloween, but you can decide that for yourself. I'm not sure what your experience is, you're probably not far along, but maybe you should check out my material and see if anything there speaks to you, I have very simple effects and some that would work great during halloween. Are you good with a little sleight of hand? Rick Maue has some great stuff. http://www.deceptionsunlimited.com All you really need are a couple of things. You don't need an entire hour of performance. How about some material from the Osterlinfd DVD's? Check out some of his products, see what speaks to you, then do a search here at the Café for more info - http://www.osterlindmysteries.com/products.htm Some of the eBooks on this site might be of help - http://www.trickshop.com/main.html Material from this guy you can't go wrong with. You have plenty of time to order - http://www.blackhart.co.uk/index.html I don't know how old you are, but even you're young a nice halloween version of this effect would be to mention that your parents put a curse on you against smoking! See??? http://www.magicjax.com/outsmokinvideo.html Anyway, you can go on and on visiting the various magic stores on the net (or your home town) and looking at different things that might speak to you on some level. Like I said, you have time to prepare, so go out there and win ... what else is there to do anyway?

Teh reason why I said those things is cuz they happened to me before. I am very good using a tt. Very natural. But some people just know about thumb tips. So they say something along those lines. And I just wrote what I heard before. And another person said the exact same thing about the IT. Thanks for the advice tho. I will probably do the hummer card or somethin.
