Anyone here have a sword or a collection? I have always wanted one ever since I was a little guy.
After I grew out of watching Teenage Muntant Ninja Turtles and Pirate shows on television, my interest faded away. But often I will go to a garage sale, a pawn shop, or even a gun and knife show that has some of the most beautiful swords. I always feel my hand reaching for my wallet. However the prices always make my fingers hurt when I touch my wallet. So I forget about it. So, after my long and drawn out useless writing up above, anyone like swords? |

I've got a whopping great original Cavalry Sabre! Weirdest birthday present I ever got. You really fancy yourself as Errol Flynn whenever you pick it up.
My wife only lets me play with it on special occasions now. Regards Dave |

I have a growing sword collection myself. In it are the following swords: One Tachi--that is a ceremonial Samurai Sword worn during the Tokugawa era of Japan by the more influential Japanese lords. One basket-hilt claymore--this is the same type of sword seen in "Rob Roy" starring Liam Neeson. One basic rapier. One decorative Wakazashi, Japanese and the only non-functional blade I own. One Katana or Samurai Sword--this is the pinnacle of my collection and was my first sword. I am bonded to this sword. One Kukri, a weapon of the Gurkas. I also have many different fantasy-styled knives in my collection and a couple very nice Bowie knives. As I said, all but the Wakazashi are fully functional. I even have the scars to prove it.

I love swords! I have very nice full tang Katana, a pair of butterfly swords, 2 Spaniard swords. These are part of my my collection of knives, nunchaku & other toys that I have been playing with since I was a child
The best piece of my collection is my Kwan Dao(also known as"the generals sword").- It is 5 feet long with a 1 foot blade, it weighs about 15 lbs. Here is a picture of my favorite toy- :bat: Click here to view attached image. |

Do lightsabers count?
Actually I've got 3 swords. My Navy ceremonial sword, a Katana, and a cane sword (looks like a cane until HeeeeeYaa. Short sword.) Come to think of it I have no idea where that thing is.

I would, but I'm usually not allowed near anything sharp or flammable. They tell me there's a good reason.

I have my Marine Corps sword, a Katana I bought from a Japanese soldier on Iwo Jima (in the 90's not the 40's) and a plastic Marc Anthony sword from an old Halloween costume.

I think it's pretty funny to go into a knife store and do a color changing knife routine. Or do something with their knives from under the counter. Anyone else ever done this?

I've always had a collection (a lot got cleaned out by a robbery a few years ago, **** it!), but once I started fencing in university and working with swords in my martial arts training it started growing a little faster. Do any of you collectors use / workout with your blades, or are they for decorative purposes only?

Here in Hawaii, the late Glen Grant (Hawaii's famous ghost-breaker) used to collect true ghost stories. One unusual case involved a Japanese Sword. A house was haunted until a Japanese Sword was found to have been buried on the property. When the Samurai Sword was returned to the possession of the descendants, the haunting stopped. Evidently, the haunting was caused by the resentment felt by the spirit inhabiting the Sword, resentment at having its possession misplaced. So returning it to its rightful desendants, placated it.

I have a collection of exotic weapons, most purchased for historical study. By and large, swords are horribly mis understood. The pride of my collection is a basket hilt broadsword. I like to wear it on dress occasions. My collection includes a few pole arms, and some muzzle loading firearms.

I have 2 Wakazashi that I use for practice, 1 modified Katana, an authentic Katana forged about 450yrs ago, and assorted shuriken.
The bold items where left to me by my Ninjutsu teacher.

I've got a sword collection, as well, but save for a katana and wakazashi on a tasteful display stand, it's sitting in my garage, wrapped in blankets. My wife has forbidden me to display them, as a) they could be taken off the wall and used by someone who breaks in, and b) they would scare the neighbors.
I still keep them around; I'll use some of them on stage one day. The biggest piece is a 5'10" replica Scottish Lowlander Greatsword- I still do want that one up on the wall some day... -Erik

I remember seeing on a TV-show, illusionist Lance Burton showing a Katana that was given to him as a gift from illusionist Haruo Shimada.

I have an Oddfellows ceremonial rapier;
a 'dragon' fantasy viking sword; a basket-hilt claymoore; a two-handed sword (claymoore type; knock-off of 'Glamdring' from the LOTR films); and a falcion. My wife has a cutlass. Other 'period' weapons I own include: a morningstar; a tomahawk; and a Germanic beheading axe. I also have a few non-firing replicas of old handguns: Japanese matchlock; Italian wheellock; Flintlock; and an 1836 Colt cap & ball revolver. Why do I have all these? I'm a member of the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism)
