Just thinking if I can do magic while handing out candy tongiht. Problem is, I am not quite sure what kind of magic would be good for a quick trick while in a narrow doorway. I was considering maybe levitating some candy or something, but I wouldn't be able to give that candy away.
Any ideas??? |

1.do a retention of vision or other false transfer with a piece of candy and then pretend to drop it in the kids hand. When they look puzzled pull it out of your elbow or their ear or something.
2. change one piece of candy into another type 3. show one piece of candy and in a false transfer or sylvester pitch or something similar turn it into many pieces and hand them out. |

Trick in the broadest sense. I recommend the finger in the tobacco tin. Tobacco tin (or similar) with a hole in the bottom; finger goes in the hole; take the lid off; looks as if the tin contains a human finger. Perhaps next year.

If you have the kids come into your house as you guess who they are, give them some candy and then on their way out tell them you want to show them a neat trick. It will be dark outside except for the (I'm assuming) porch light. Do some D'lite effects.

Dove Pan above is a great idea....quick, easy and fun. Also, using a TT to vanish and appear a silk is excellent. If you can get Flash Paper in your area have a candle burning by the door and toss a small ball of fire from the hand. You will get shouts of "Do it again!" Best,

Hmm... Tricks for the Trick or Treaters... How fun is that... I like the finger in tin idea, but use a candy tin of some type not a tobacco tin. Say here would you like a piece and open it up. I think they will naturally reach for a piece and maybe get scared a little when they see it's a bloody finger... LOL>>LOL>>
I like it...

It's more fun to hid in the bushes and come out with a leaf blower.

Believe it or else, I got started doing illusions (many many years ago...drop it!) by building a porch illusion for Halloween. Each Halloween I built another and another and soon my garage had about five or six illusions. I made some adaptations to them and started with my illudion show. You'll see some of my porch illusions (combined with some from Jim Gerrish and even Eleazar Goodenough) on my site in The Wizards' Journal #4 and in the latest Wizards' Journal #10. The narrow door makes a great angle-proof stage- they have to stand directly in front of you to see the illusion. One of my favorites, and a real easy one to perform, is when I turn into a werewolf in front of their unbelieving little eyes. The year I did that one, I didn't give out much candy.

For years I have put on this wolf mask and old clothes... I lay down and my wife stuffs my clothes with leaves. I lay there with my head kinda sideways. Everyone thinks I am a dummy (ok so maybe they are right), I do nothing when they walk past but on the way back thru I jump at them and yell. You should hear the screams! Especially from the parents.LOL>>LOL>>>LOL>>
