A while back I saw a magician perform this...he took pieces of dental floss...balled them together...and pulled them apart and they were restored...
Anyone know where I can find an explanation? --Jon |

Hi Jon:
This is Lonnie Chevrie's Dental Floss trick, and it's on his 1st DVD, which I believe is called "The Outlaw Magic of Lonnie Chevrie." You can buy it at Hocus-Pocus, among other places. Ron |

Charles Green also does an effect like this. He even does it with 3 different flavors of dental floss. He ripps off 1 piece of regular, one piece of cinnamon and one piece of mint. Then restores them into 1 large piece of multi-colored floss.
Very cool looking stuff Dave
My new DVD ("The magic of David Corsaro") is now available from your favorite dealer. Watch the DVD that Daryl, Jon Allen, Shawn Farquhar, Boris Wild, Marc DeSouza, Asi Wind and Paul Green ALL ENDORSE.

It's a variation of "Gypsy Thread" aka "Hindu Thread".
Another variation is done with wool yarn which may be better for a kid show. |

Here's another one....Bruce Gold sold a torn and restored dental floss routine back in the late 80's, early 90's. I know I have it somewhere in my "piles". Like Jaz says, it really is "Gypsy Thread" with dental floss.

I learned it from The Magic Menu. I believe it was a Charles Green routine there as well, but it only used one type of floss.

The Magic Menu compilations are very nice. They have two large volumes with five years in each and the 'final four' released by Andrew Pinard.

Hi:
The routine has a history with a bit of controversy. Lonnie Chevrie came up with the idea doing the Gypsy Thread with Dental Floss. He evidently showed it Charles Greene, who then published it in his Genii issue, as well in the Magic Menu later on. I can tell you I have the Greene Genii issue and Magic Menu, but the real work is on Lonnie Chevrie's DVD. I first learned it from the Charles Greene Genii issue, and there are a couple really nice touches missing, that you can only get from the Chevrie DVD. Ron |

While not performed with dental floss another great version is the "Dragon Thread" version done by Mike Wong.

This is an absolute killer. I've had room fulls of 3 year olds look in amazment and go in unison "WOW!!!" It's good from 3 yo's to 105 yo's. I learned it from that Goddess Racheal Wilde during their last lecture tour. I carry 5 of them preset on me at all times. It does get me bookings.

I saw the Wild's do it at Kidabra in a lecture in 2004. I use it frequently. I'm with you Aragorn, I could listen to her explain it to me all day long. She must really think I'm thick-headed! I really enjoyed Tom and Rachael's lecture, and the dental floss idea was not new with me, but they tied it into a motivational show, and it fit.

I know that Mark Sicher did this, too. Anyone know where I can find his version in print or on video/DVD
