Hi, all
I'm a BIG fan of Annemann and I'm considering getting the Abrams book "Life and Times of A Legend." However, I already have "Bargain Mental Effects", "Book Without A Name", "Practical Mental Effects", "One Man Psychic Routine" by Annemann. My question is....would the Abrams book be worth purchasing for someone who already has quite a lot of Annemann material? I would also like to read about Annemann's life, contemporaries, etc. Thanks for any info Adam |

I do not have it, however, anything by Annemann is worth purchasing. I think he and Dunninger were two of a kind that can never be replaced.

I love it. If you want some real insights into the legend it is a great place to start as well as tons of material.

This is more than just a collection of Annemann's effects, it is a historical record of his life and accomplishments. As a fan of Annemann I think this is a great purchase.

Hey, Adam!
I am a great fan of Annemann. I owned a great deal of Annemann material before buying the Abrams book, and reading it gave me a wonderful portrait of Annemann, as well as collecting all his writings in one place (including his things from the Jinx). Along with the Jinx and a few books, I try to read through the Abrams book once every 2 or 3 years, and I always find something new which I had overlooked. Since you express an interest in knowing about Annemann's life, I would definitely recommend it to you. |

Adam,
Trust me , the 4 books you have do not even compare to the information in the Abrams book. I have them all and as you may know the Abrams book is as thick as Greater Magic.Annemann was a genius who died way too soon, unfortunatley he took his own life which was a major loss to everyone in the magic/ mentalism field. Get the book and absorb it is is great.. Rennie
The effect is the important thing, how you achieve it is not.......

Thanks for the info, guys.
I bought the book from Alakazam UK...and I've been looking through it. WOW!! I've got some great reading ahead of me!! The pics of the original manuscript covers, etc. in the back of the book are excellent too! Annemann is my favourite mentalist, and I enjoy performing many of his routines, so this book is a gold mine as well as a great read! Thanks again, Adam |
