I walk into a restaurant and I'm asked "How many in your party?"

I answer "We represent father, mother, uncle, aunt, sister, brother, nephew, niece, and two cousins."

What is the fewest number that could be in the party?
Smoking or non-smoking?
Will you walk into my parlour? said the Spider to the Fly,
Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy;
The way into my parlour is up a winding stair,
And I've a many curious things to show when you are there.

Oh no, no, said the little Fly, to ask me is in vain,
For who goes up your winding stair
-can ne'er come down again.

The fewest number of people that could be there is 2, one man and one woman. the man is a father, a brother to someone, an uncle, a nephew, and he could have a cousin. the woman could be a mother, a sister, a neice, and she could also have a cousin. and none of them smoke cuz you aren't allowed to in resturants.

Your answer could work, except for one thing.
In the party, each member of the party represents to each other the relationships described.

I say 4,the mother and father could adopt their nephew from the mothers brother and niece from the mothers sister,and so they would be ,mother, father, brother, sister, aunt and uncle, niece, and nephew , and cousins.

I believe his answer could work in the South. Smile

4 is correct.

Here's the tightest reasoning...
Husband and wife are brother and sister, but not married to each other...They're married to other persons. One brings a son and one brings a daughter. The children are cousins, therefore nephew and neice. The father and mother are therefore uncle and aunt.
