Hi gang,
Need any relevant info on "key man" insurance. Am working a deal to be the main attraction at a standing production and the "suits" need me to conjour up a plan for $ liability on my continual appearances. Anyone had experience with this issue?? Thanks in advance!

I've never heard of "key man" insurance. I assume you just need general liability insurance. This has been discussed many times. Most recently, here: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=44.
I use "Clowns of the US." (I'm not a clown, but the policy works for me, so who cares what they name it.) |

Hi Brad,
Thanks for the input. An agent here in the Dallas-Fort Worth area told me about the clowns insurance group for liability. It looks very good and I will check into it. However, what I need in this specific instance is the kind of policy that will safety net the investors against loss of revenue in the event I cannot perform. Basically. Its fairly common in other branches of show biz but I have never had to know much about this. Thanks.

Sounds like what they want is a guarantee that you will show up. (Liability polices don't cover this.) Some local agents may be able to write it. Ask about a “Surety Bond”

Actually, Key Man insurance is typically a life insurance policy purchased by a company to protect them in case the "key man" dies. This would work to protect them in that circumstance but it won't do anything to help them in case you're unable to perform.
I would check with K&K Insurance - http://www.kandkinsurance.com/ . They specialize in entertainment and event insurance and write policies that aren't handled by standard insurance companies. Just be prepared, it might be very expensive. Michael |
