This message goes out to those Gazzo Master Class graduates. What did you learn during the class that you would recommend coming classes get as well. For instance, if I told you I was attending a Master Class, you'd say, "Oh, don't forget to have Gazzo teach you about..." Or, was there anything you forgot to ask, that others might benefit from? Now that you've had the benefit of digesting the material, is there anything you perhaps wondered about, and now have decided, "Well, it looks like Gazzo was right." With several classes coming up, it might be good if the soon - to - be students could benefit from your experience. Feel free to share experiences and/or praise as well.

Mark, for the life of me I can't remember the details, but someone asked Gazzo about increasing tips while working restaurants. The advice given was excellent. I think I remember that part correctly. Make sure to ask him. The price of that information was worth the price of the class alone (Unless I dreamed this and it never really happened).
One of my favorite stories, from the classes, was a young kid, must be about 16 or so, came to a class. He'd been in magic for a few months and he was given a gift to come to the class. He did, and he'd never picked up a set of cups. He was nailing the routine and even beginning to make it his own in just two days. Imagine being 16 again, and getting to learn cups and balls from a master (not to mention the other routines he learned). I'd kill for that opportunity at 16. He's got a great future ahead of him, he's a bright kid. The Gentleman's Game is something you surely must witness.

I saw it two fold down here in North Carolina. I was in the class and also hosted the event. For those of you out there getting ready to attend a masterclass take the following advice.
1. Get plenty of sleep before the masterclass starts. Gazzo will go as long as the group wants to. We spent nearly the ENTIRE weekend with him. 2.Write down before hand what you might want to ask him. Gazzo has got some amazing stories and rock solid advice. All you have to do is ask him. I repeat all you have to do is ASK. 3. Play the Gentleman's Game 4. Ask him to talk about Walter Scott. For those that don't know Gazzo was a very impressive card man before his accident. Just because he can't physically show you something, he WILL TEACH you something that you probaly don't know. And for those card guys out there going to the class make sure to ask him to show you some stuff! 5. Play the Gentleman's Game again!!! 6. Tossed Out Deck Routine and Egg Bag are must sees! For those who have not signed up for a masterclass yet or don't know what goes on inside one of this classes take this advice. Its worth much more than what your paying for it. The time you spend with Gazzo will be something you will never forget. You cannot really describe the masterclass and what went on. It was for me the best magic experience one weekend could hold. Its better than any convention I have every attended. You will learn from a master plain and simple. Gazzo has done this stuff for years and years. If there is one thing that I can think of to make sure you guys do is ASK questions. If you want to know something ask him. The message above about increasing your tips(yes that happened and the young kid was in my class down in NC as well) in the restaurant was started by someone simply asking. Gazzo will share anything with you, but you must want the information. Good luck and have fun with Gazzo! Doc Docherty See you in January Gazzo |

Like Doc I got to be a participant and acted as host for the class in Virginia. When he says rest up, he means it. I think I slept a grand total of about 4 hours all weekend. (So did my wife, which lead to a rather ugly situation at the end, sorry about that guys). Anyway, the highlights for me:
1. As much as I've worked on cups and balls, having Gazzo go through his routine piece by piece, with all of the little details no one else thinks about. . . worth everything. 2. The egg bag . . . I had never had any instruction in person on the bag before (just working with the Ken Brooke's book and the Steven's video). I got to see things that you can't see in a book or on a recording. And Gazzo's own additions to the routine are fantastic. 3. As Doc mention, the gentleman's game. . . make sure your wallet is full before you get to class. Actually leave a stash in your car so you have money to get home. . . heh heh heh. 4. Just hanging out, all night long. . . the stories. . . the beer. . . the stories. If there are things you want to know, just ask. Gazzo is a very straight forward guy who wants his students to learn. If I had to do it all again, I would . . . in a heartbeat, though next time I wouldn't be the host, so I could pay more attention to learning. Mark

The crowds. The people. Make sure you ask about how you get the crowds and control them. Gazzo is a master of this and I think there's a lot more going on psychologically in the way he approaches these two aspects than even he is aware of.
I saw him a few times in NYC and saw how he squelches any wanna-be hecklers right from the get go. I saw him in NC and watched as he drew a crowd just by using a little kid. It's pure brilliance. Gazzo is the master manipulator in many ways. EVILDAN.

To all who shared, thank you so much. I have printed up your suggestions to take to class. I suspect there will be a class of 13 students who greatly appreciate your help. I know I do. I am currently halfway through my weekend with Gazzo and company, and I have to tell you, I am already calling it a bargain. If we stopped today, it would be an absolute steal. This class is important. I don't mean, "You just have to learn how to do Gazzo's cups and balls." I mean, between the cups (and the thinking behind them), the egg bag - oh man, you have GOT to check out his stuff on the egg bag. I had a eureka moment today with the egg bag. The tossed out deck, the Immigration card trick, there is just too much to relate. I mean it though, it is worth both your time and money, and I will do my best when it is all over to try and go into detail. For now though, trust me when I tell you, Gazzo is a teacher extraordinaire. If you need it, he'll teach it. We worked on some top palming, top changing, peeks, and we're just getting started. If you can, go. If you can't, try harder.

Okay, I have to go into more detail now. There are some real points of value in this class that make it worth spending the money for, and rescheduling or handing off other gigs. I know that between the price of the class and handing off a gig, one could conceivably spend five hundred or so, but I would maintain that you will still be ahead of the game. I almost wish I had the money to guarantee that comment, but America has become 'interesting' where guarantees are concerned. If I remember right, Gazzo does guarantee his class though. (Check that info for accuracy if you don't mind) As I mentioned, his egg bag routine will bring a new effect into your repertoire. That trick will just knock a lay audience on their butts. It knocked a room full of magicians on their butts, and we didn't have any fifteen year olds, if you get my drift. The tossed out deck is wonderful, and goodness, you could get serious mileage out of that one. Restaurant guys, your take home will raise considerably if you'll ask the right questions. The Gentlemen's Game is something that you need to learn. I'll leave it at that. Let me tell you about the atmosphere; Gazzo's opening remarks serve to park the egos out in the parking lot, and from then on it is a supportive, respectful, cohesive group. We had a young lady fly down from Canada, and was so glad she did. (Gazzo would tell you that he got the best of the deal, though) I'll close for now. Truly, go if there is any way to go, and most importantly, be good to your wives or significant other. They need to know that you'll be 'out for the weekend' - the WHOLE weekend. Really, clear the decks, get the time allotted, and make it up to them either before or after. You'll enjoy the class so much more if you do.

Thanks Mark! Wow....where to start.... First, and most important, thanks to Mark for arranging this. Seattle has been amazing. It's my first time here and I'm loving the place. Super nice people, great food, beautiful scenery. It's just an amazing place.
The class was great, and I'm proud of all those who attended. Each class Gazzo does seems to get better and better, and this was no exception. You guys really nailed so much of the work so quickly. I can't wait to see how far you all go in the very near future. I can't thank all of you enough. I look forward to hanging out with the Seattle guys this week, on our days off. Hopefully, everyone can get out for a few more hours without being grounded for life All the best- Steve

The class was great. I strongly reccomend it to everyone. It's just not about cups and balls, it's about performing and making your magic presentations stronger
