I would say it is good for someone with a little bit of experience - eg a good thing to get after Ammar and perhaps Roth 1 & 2. But do a search and you'll find lots of reviews and opinions.
A lot of the bad reviews come from people who don't like his profanity. Myself, I could do without the humour, which, even if you find it funny first time (I don't), wears thin on repeated viewing.

Alex, have a look at Dan Watkins's site http://www.coinvanish.com for some advice about starting in coin magic.

Alex, this DVD requests knowledge of basic sleights. Actually I don't think a beginner should buy it, although some beginners have done so and have managed to perform everything taught. so, nothing's absolute... Anyways, you'll find useful routines/ideas from a very good magician whose only crime is to have his own style. And don't listen to the bad reviews, they're made by perfect christians attending church every Sunday. I'm a sinner myself, and buy a coin magic DVD to learn magic. Why do YOU buy a coin magic DVD?
That's just my two cents. Phedon

Another free thinker! Back to the dvd, yes, I do think it's for someone with at least some basic knowledge of coin sleights because some of the materials Jay teaches are NOT easy. But with practice, anything is possible!

I like the humour it's off the wall and silly! And the routines are good, but I would not advise it for a beginner (like myself) I haven't perfected any of this stuff yet.
I am a conservative Christian and I like the humour, further more there is no such thing as a "perfect Christian." Stop being so "narrow minded" and judgemental! Don't put me in your little box! Be a little more open minded and accepting of others! (the previous comment was intended to be funny and ironic, not a flame. ) |

IIsouder -> No offense taken from me, but I don't think I am narrow-minded. You should keep this adjective for the people accusing JS of profanity and calling to burn him alive or throw him to the lions. Perfect christians don't exist? Yes they do. You have to be perfect to judge. Since I spend my time reading people judging others, I assume they do exist after all. It's Sokrates's logic echoing in me (I'm greek after all): "Sokrates is mortal, cats are mortal, Sokrates is a cat". Isn't that pure logic?
Anyways, I leave my sarcasm to the side; I'm a christian myself, but I do -like yourself- accept derision. To some extent. Friendly and respectfully, Phedon

Get it. I don't think you'll do everything there, but you'll definitely learn many things from this DVD. And his flying shuttle pass is a beauty...

I have about 8 months study of coin magic and I really like the DVD - he doesn't explain the basic palms/sleights at all but there is a wealth of material. Some of the routines are amongst the easiest routines possible e.g., Deja Vu or NestEgg which
only require the ability to do a FT and FP. Some will require a lot of practice e.g., "No jacket required" but often one can substitute a hard move (e..g, the flying shuttle) for a regular Shuttle or Kapps subtlety with only slight loss of impact. I like most of the effects apart from a few which look a bit artificial, but given the sheer amount of material, even if you only like 1/2 of it you're still getting more than on many DVDs. I don't especially like the silly voices etc but you can always fast forward over them if you find them irksome! |

What does relegion have to do with coin magic???? Sorry! The only reason religion came up is because phedonbilek was warning that there is some dialog that may be offensive. And it's a legit warning. Of course I unintentionally derailed this thread by trying to be funny and it really didn't work out. But Don't worry No more funny stuff from me (except for the previous DC as Lil Jon quote) |

IIsouder -> I sense you misunderstood the whole thing, and I invite you to re-read the thread from the very beginning. You'll see I never warned anyone, but on the contrary invited anyone interested in this to overcome the critics made on this DVD.
Also, I just thought that you might not be aware of all the critics that arose when this DVD came out owing to the so-called profanity... They had made such a fuss over that. Bearing this in mind one can -better- understand my -sarcastic- comment regarding "perfect christians". Friendly, Phedon
