My intent was to share that, in the intro, Scott explained he released this to answer some of the problems he felt the HDS had... an example is he felt the half dyed silk was too much an "impossible object" that the audience could not relate to in stage work. He also commented that he didn't like the multiple DT's of McCombs version. Yes, is very much a color changing silk routine; I use Levent's HDS routine when I need it. |

I performed Billy McComb's version for years. I opened my corporate and adult performances with it. I always felt the switching of gimmicks could raise suspicion, going in and out of pockets etc.
I like Levant's gimmick although I don't own one. About ten years back, I came up with a handling of my own using just one palmo and A 15" half dyed silk set. I began experimenting and reworking my routine so there would be no need to ditch a gimmick at the end. A gimmick is just that . . . a gimmick, a tool to make the trick work. I feel that if the gimmick is manipulated correctly at the end of the routine, the audience is none the wiser. You can very "fairly" show both hands "empty" and put the half dyed silk away along with the gimmick. I will be sharing my routine in my lecture at the 2018 KIDabra conference in Tennessee.

JNeal has a great half dyed silk routine without any suspicious moves or diving into the pockets. The man has logged many years as a stage performer. His version is only currently available as a lecture note booklet directly from him.

But what I meant was, I do not get to perform that often so when I do the less moves, memorizing type of stuff the better. I've seen a few of these effects one from Scott Alexander called the color of mystery. It resets and is able to perform closeup, that's what he says anyway. Another comes from Cody Fisher. Both claim they are more efficient in less props blah blah blah etc. Sorry if I turned a screw on you but I had to ask. I've seen Billys routine, yes one of the best if not the best. I'm not him however and choose to perform my own style. See you in the funny pages, |

Hi John, thanks for the response. Less does not mean easier or good or bad. You should perform your own style, what I am is the routine, handling, and movements of the body, arms and hand, finally, the what to say, because without the words, it becomes unimportant.
No matter which one you purchase, you have to learn completely, and after your muscle memory retains the information you can then make any changes wish to try and see what works. I learned my color changing silk routine at the age of 11, and I can still perform it perfectly at 71. If you learn something well, you will never forget. |

The package arrived today. When I first opened the to look at the props I said to myself "cheap." When I watched the video I said "I got my money worth." After learning from the DVD you will notice it is a great gimmick and routine. Like on all of his other DVDs he speaks on history of the trick.

Levent's gimmick and dvd are very good. The only fault I have with the gimmick is that it will only hold a 15" silk made with 5 momme silk. I like 6 momme as it taking more poking. But I do make up the 15" silks in 5 momme due to the demand.
