Or did Criss Angel just expose Slydini's Balls Over the Head in tonight's episode of his A&E TV special?

I don't know if that effect could ever be considered exposure. I didn't see it but I could be wrong. But the effect is mainly for the one spec. Everyone else is pretty much in on it. But again before I get attacked this is just my opinion.

If you've ever seen Copperfield or anyone else ever do it, than you're in on it too. If you really feel guilty, than donate $50 to my Slydini Recovery Fund.

I suppose you guys are right. Although, the times that I've seen it performed on TV, the crowd may bave been in on it, but the viewer wasn't. In tonight's episode, the footage was slowed down so that the viewer could see exactly what was going on.

Oh ok, I see what you're saying but trust me if one of her/his friends were there, they would've told/showed her after they left. Again I didn't see it.

How can you "expose" that trick?
The whole point is the exposure of the trick. It is the equivilant of accusing Michael Finney of "exposing" the card on the forhead. I do the balls over the head till the person on stage catches on. It makes it a huge build up as the paper keeps getting bigger and bigger and they keep not catching on to the trick. That is the point. Then the look on the face of the person is a HUGE payoff that is the point. Just as in the card on the forhead. pasia if anyone attacks you, I will get your back! haha Chris is more guilty of exposing magic to the stooges he uses for the levitations and such. and please don't attack me for that last comment. It was a simple comparison is all. People defend him for that, but accuse him of exposure for this type of thing. Kind of funny in and of itself.

That was quite entertaining seeing him lift the cops wallet. And then giving the cop his $20 back and seeing the look on his face... it was between a: "is this mine?" and "shouldn't I bust him for that?" hahahahaha
There is a fine line of some magicians tricks and a thief! Imagine if he didn't give it back? Would that be considered payment for his performance? LOL!!! |

A version of Slydini's Balls Over the Head is something that I have done for years.
I wish that it was not shown on TV, but all in all, I doubt if it will have much of an impact. Peace, Parson

That is part of the trick, to let the audience be in the know.
Also this episode had a comedy theme. So it fit right in.

I am just ticked because now my audience won't think "I" made the trick up... oh, wait, did I say that out loud?

You cant expose the paperballs over the head. Unless you have an amazing one where no one can see you throw it at all.

Gregory Wilson has an interesting version of this where he starts tossing glasses and even plates before the spectator catches on. You definately need an assistant for this (otherwise the glass breaks) but, it's pretty effective stuff.

I've never considered this magic but more of a gag.
Sure, the mark may think it's magic but later realizes the mage played a trick on him/her. It's fun though. |

I think the only problem now is for anyone wanting to perform the effect, they'll have to worry about whether or not the person who's on stage has seen the special. But hey, it's not like Criss's show is receiving such high ratings.

There is much more danger of people expecting to see the things he does with the camera edits, and wanting magicians to duplicate them than anything else.
Penn and Teller do clear cups and balls. A FANTASTIC routine which actually fools people. I have never had trouble doing the effect for people after they have seen it.

RevJohn,
I know you are lying about creating that effect, cause I made it up. Sold it to some little guy. Can't remember his name. kramerica2010, That is exactly what I do in my stage show. After the vanish is demonstrated on the helper, I perform the vanish on the entire audience. Peace, Parson
