Hey everyone... I would like to produce a siren light at the end of my Square Circle routine; however, I am trying to stay away from having a long cord hanging from my table... Does anyone know of a large (ie., "10- "15 diameter by "8 inch) siren light? I am looking for something in red, blue, or even green...

Another point to ponder... After producing all the loads, I would like to raise the square, circle, and i****r circle and allow the light to remain on the base of the illusion; however, in the beginning of the routine, I would like to assemble the complete illusion showing that there isn't a trap door or anything of that source in the base. The base will actually be a small sheet of diamond-plate aluminum.

Thanks for the help!

By siren light you an old-style police beacon..? Here's something, hope they are of some help:

You could simply have the gimmick as a separate piece which has a bottom. Have all pieces separate on the table. Show the square completely empty, don't place it on the base yet. Then demonstrate how the tube goes inside the square but take it immediately out, leaving the gimmick behind. Just pick up the square and gimmick and place them on the base. Very very low-tech and simple but first idea that came to mind.

Check out the local toy store, we bought a fire chief hat a couple years back, it had a red flashing light and siren on the top, I would spend the $5 or so and yank it apart as needed!

I have seen them in person but have no idea where to get them. I'm popping at an FX shop tomorrow so I'll check if the boys have any ideas.

Maybe you could alter a larger one to run on batteries..? That cnt be al that difficult.

Great idea! I love that LED set up... I know the LED lights don't suck up the juice as much as most normal lights do... If we could only locate them in a bigger size...

Try Spencer's novelties and gifts in your local mall.

Or try the party store where they sell Disco ball and lights. They should have it. One more place you want to check is Orientaltrading.com

Bryan,

Ijust got some from oriental trading catalog for the prize box at my school. The base is about the of a large gaf coin. But check it out, it works on batteries and the price is not bad at $3.95.

I purchased one from a local automotive store. It's designed to be plugged into a car's cigarette lighter for power and stuck onto the top of the vehicle with a strong magnet mounted in the base of the light...popular with volunteer firemen, apparently.

Anyway, because it was engineered to run on 12 volts (car power), I simply removed the wiring that runs to the outside power source, soldered a plug for a nine-volt battery inside and used the hole where the wiring used to exit to put an external, push-button switch.

The brightness change is indistinguishable from the lowered voltage (12v to 9v). The main difference being that the beacon turns a bit more slowly than before. It also will only run for about 3 minutes on a single 9v battery...but if you're just using it as a production item, it may not matter.

I believe they came in red, blue and amber.
