Nevermind, got it....
Cool Video... Well put together, moves are smooth... Could ask for a little higher camera angle on the arm spreads, but another great video. |

Great stuff, my only comment would be that you don't seem to be enjoying yourself. The skills are top notch, but connect with the camera and show us the reason you spent all these hours working on the moves. Again, great stuff, but presentation might put it over the top.
Just my two cents.

You know, as one of the old dudes, who was around when a Charlier cut was a flourish and split fans were a broken electric appliance, I have two words of advice to give to all of the flourishers out there - given to me by several people over the years - words which have gotten me contracts with a lot of very high paying clients, like Kraft Foods, Serta Mattress, Sandals resorts (yes, they fly me down to the resorts to work there AND pay me to do it!)... and those two words are:
SLOW DOWN! You guys are doing stuff that's really visually impressive, but many of you are doing it SO fast that it is really hard for a non-card person to tell what's being done (that's feedback from about a dozen people I've shown several of the demo videos from this forum to). They were FAR more impressed with the slow motion footage because they could SEE what was going on. What does that tell you...? It should be telling you to SLOW DOWN your moves so people can see what you are doing. Speed kills ... the impact of a flourish ... in many cases. Just the opinion of a guy who makes his living in the business... Your mileage may vary... Lee Darrow, C.H.

Listen to Lee. That was great advise. Actually slowing down was THE best advise I ever got.

I mean I'm not a great advocate for lightning speed, but I find people are impressed by speed as well as the motions. Infact, when I show people flourishes, usually I try to do it slowly and smoothly. Then have a line about "Of course, you CAN speed it up if you WANT." Then you can do it really fast which makes another "wow" arise. Well, each to their own. In a magic routine, speed isn't needed at all, but you need it to be at a reasonable speed if its a false cut so people don't cotton on. Haha I said cotton on. --art-- |

I think Lee is absolutely right, but in this video the speed was perfect. For most cuts speed looks very good on them. I think a Mdaonna in slow doesn't look very impressiv. But I agree that speed isn't always good even at flourishes. If you really want to see waaay to exagerated speed watch "The heckler" by brian Tudor. This is absolutely over the top and doesn't look smooth or even good at all.
@ Topic: Beautiful video. Nice waterfall, awsome card shots! What card shooting method is this? I have never seen this before. It looked really kool. And what was the cut right at the beginning? Jah

The cut at the start was a variation of Keone's Remix. The shot were all mine, and I have no name for them yet.
Thanks guys. J
