Ok I am delveloping 4 different routines, as I mainly show family and friends at present I don't want to show the same effect each time.
I am looking for advise on 2 strong openers. currently I use inside the fold (richard osterlind) and also bank knight (also R.O) what openers can someone suggest to provide real impact ? thanking you in advance steve

"The Flange Pipe". Without question. From one of Anneman's books, can't remember which. Sorry I can't be of more help.
Or, you could do a Derren style OOTW, but not with photos of the dead & alive - with Dali & Magrite paintings. You can rarely tell who's who, but it'll be a real treat for them when you say "See! You knew 'unconsciously'." You have to watch out for the clever ones who tell you that in the paintings Magrite's have one focal point, but Dali's are multiple. Pasq.

Steve,
Pasq meant the OOTW (Out of this world) version of Derren Brown. Its on his Devils Picturebook DVD. Its a very nice variation which I also like very much. Greetings Thomas |

On the DPB you can see his version with normal playing cards explained in every detail.

I think the ootw-effect lasts to long for an opener. I prefer R.Osterlinds Opener with a swami. "Think of a two digit number ..."

A very nice close up opener is Banachecks ESP Opener from his DVD series. Easy to perform, a great effect showing what mentalism and clairvoyance is all about and it enables you to hand out your business card.

Regarding to openers I agree with Horax. I most often use some short NW effects like Inside the folds from Richard.
At my current show I like to use the prediction about the change money someone has with him. When possible to set up before the show I often use the Ted Lesley idea of the ten extra cents. This opener gets great reactions. Also I tried out Banacheks' idea out of PS with the airplane. Also strong reactions. Greetings Thomas |

I always use a simple three way out prediction effect. Gives me something nice and easy where I don't have to think and the way I do it, allows me to spend a bit of time sussing out the crowd for future volunteers.

I use a 3 digit prediction sort of effect - only poroblem is that it is the only thing in my show that has angle restrictions, effectively restricting my entire set
- any suggestions other that p****t writing to alleviate this? Tom |
