I have been reading thru MicroEconomics by Joe Cole and finally decided to try out one of the routines. Its called The Dime Machine by Curtis Kam. I had great success with it. Has anyone else taken the time to give this gem a try?

Just saw this post, thanks Eric, I'm happy to hear you're using this routine. It's one of my favorite routines from the book. it's a great way to end your favorite coin routine. I believe Curtis will be including this routine in his 2006 lecture.
Best, Joe

Hey Eric, I don't have Joe's book yet...Could you describe what happens in the Dime Machine? Just want to get a sense of what's it about. Thanks.
PS - Joe's a pretty cool guy too. Should've asked him to show me a few things with those little coin purses when we were chatting. Next time for sure.

Guys, just wanted to report in and confirm the I will be discussing "The Dime Machine" in my lectures for 2006. Joe was good enough to let me lift it from "Microeconomics" since there's a lot of other good stuff there anyway.
"Dime Machine" gets into the notes under "Yes, you can end a coin set without a jumbo coin." So that's what it is, for anyone who's wondering. Just a bit more on this--tonight I road-tested the full routine that ends with the Dime Machine. I'm happy to report that Joe's micro purses can be used in place of the purse frame that everyone else is using for an opener. The routine starts with the production of three silver dollars, one at a time, from the tiny purse. Then, a minature version of Garrett Thomas' "Big Coin, Little Purse" sequences, then a "spellbound" sequence with a coin and the purse, and finally the Dime machine to end. E and J you'll get this--there's no switching purses, and no trips to the pockets at all. I might do the whole thing at the lectures, but I don't think I'll be teaching it, I'm having too much fun with it right now. But if you're interested, I hope you'll check out Joe's book and purses (get the leather ones) as soon as you can. Then come to the lectures, and show me your routine.

Curtis thanks for confirming the rumor...cough cough, that I started:)
I look FWD to seeing the full routine at your next lecture tour out here on the east cost. Anyone who missed Curtis' lecture tour last time, please be sure to make it to the next one, you'll be glad you did. Joe
