I just recently saw the Halloween special that Criss Angel did on A&E. He visited Houdini's grave. I Thought it was a bit disrespectful to see him laying on his tombstone and on other stones, benches etc in the graveyard. I don't know if that's really Houdini'd Tomb but that really bothered me. Anyhow just needed to put that out there...

I believe those are special places to sit and reflect. They suround the grave I think. I will be going there soon and will check it out.

I personally don't think it is disrespectful at all. But to each their own. I like to sit on head stones in the cementary

I think the entire context was one of respect. If you want lack of respect, consider the Appleton, Wisconsin's Houdini museum and its shameful sharing of Houdini's secrets a few years ago.
I have only watched a few of Criss's specials, but I did catch the Halloween one. No wonder he is the first magician in 40 years to have a regular national television show - he is great. He does the David Blaine type of stuff, but what I really like is the close up work - including the respect he shows for his audiences. Makes me proud to be from Long Island! kerpa a/k/a Michael Miller Chicago area (but I get to the Island from time to time)

I have recently visited Houdini's Grave. In talking to one of the caretakers of the cemetary, he said allot of people have either sat of stood on the monument at the rear of the family plot (the one Criss Angel was standing on). When he asked somewof them why they did it for a picture, he was told that it is a tradition with magicians who visit the gravesite.
I will admit, I also did the same thing. And, I have the utmost respect for Harry Houdini and Magic. What I find disrespectful are the people who have written on some of the gravestones or pretty much trashed the plot. (according to the caretaker) He did tell one thing that I found very disappointing: There is a large flower pot located in the middle of the family plot that used to have flowers in it (year round). These were flowers that were sent from magicians from all over the world. He said that at one time, they couldn't put ALL of them in the plot (there were so many). Unfortunately, these flowers have dwindles down each and every year. He said that this year (2005), there has only been a couple of deliveries. Very sad. Before I left New York, I bought some and took them to the site. I only wish more of us would do the same. Ask anyone, no matter the age, about magic....and, most of the time, you'll hear Houdini's name come up. So, after all of this rambling, what I'm trying to say is this......... Criss Angel is not the first, nor the last magicain that will pay respect to his idol (in his own way). Have any of you ever wondered.....if the internet had been around in Houdini's day, and there was also a Magic Café......how many of you would have bashed him too! Just a thought.

I found it odd that Criss used some talk about ghosts or whathave you about Houdini and then that black rose was floating when Houdini spend his time debunking that nonsense.
