Hi everyone.
I have been practising with Paul Kozaks Superiour Salt Pour gimmick for quite a while now. I like Paul's routine, but would like to come up with something different. As ideas on music for a salt pour routine? Preferably royalty free, but if not, I can always apply for a license. Thanks Darren |

Well I was recently catching up with some Royalty Free music topics here. Do a search and you'll find plenty of suggestions and links to royalty free music/licensing.
Personally I think Kozak's style and approach to the salt pour is very entertaining. The Las Vegas audience seems to have a good time with the whole thing. I must admit that if he wasn't using the 'Tequila' song I would of snatched that up as my own having it serve as the comedic break in the act. Good luck in coming up with your own style and presentation of that classic. |

Thanks Randy.
Have found a few samples on the web but none I like yet. Will keep searching. On Kozaks DVD he says feel free to use the 'tequila' music. Surely if I decided to use it I would have to get permission form the creator of the song, not Kozak? Thanks for your help. Darren |

Yes I'm aware that Kozak invites anyone to use the music for their performance of the salt pour. However I can't do that for many personal reasons. Kozak doesn't own the song but having used it for that effect with his style makes it pretty much his own. I wouldn't want to see someone using a stock item I use, the same music, and worse, the same style as I.

Totally agree. I would probably look ridiculous copying Kozak's style.

Wonder if I would get away with changing the tequila for vodka that may help, especially if I drink it before!

Do a sugar pour, instead of salt, and use "I want Candy" from Bow Wow Wow... It's an 80's song.
pour it into a change bag or something, than reach in, pull out candy, toss to kids in audience. |

Or you could say it's cocaine at certain parties
You have a police theme and you like the master criminal trying to get rid of evidence naah that's a dumb idea sorry folks |

Ooo, I like the coke idea... you are Whitney Houston's dream date...

Both great ideas, I'm surprised no one has done it as a sugar pour before. There used to be a time where I regulary performed for a group of bikers who did, well I won't say, but the coke idea would have fitted in nicely back then.

I shan't suggest a specific song, but you do of course understand that something more up tempo will make the pour seem longer, as it makes time seem to pass a bit faster. Not only does Tequila fit Kozak's theme for the routine, but it helps it seem like a lot more salt's pouring out of there. Happy hunting!

Just read this post. I have been using the Kozak gimmick for a Sugar pour to "I want Candy" by Good Charloette - they have a more modern sound.
I won't go into the whole routine but think "Pixie Stix"
"Challenge Your Reality"

I used slow music. Part of the routine was to lay out the cloth on the floor to catch the salt.
Sugar pour was done years ago. Usually done with the sand canisters though. Richard
