Someone asks you to "clean" their souls, to heal them from bad luck, to do this to do that...you get the picture!
I don't like deceiving people in THAT matter (yes yes yes we do deceive n trick their minds, but I don't wanna do that on a -therapy- level!) how do you react to that guys? what do you say?do? I only answer back with pointing to my head (upper one for you jokesters ) and say it's all in here... help would be appreciate it...thank you!

Keep a list of professionals handy (professional therapists, help lines, social workers, etc.). Be gratious (which it sounds like you are) because it is a complement to your abilities.
Also, I've recommended certain books like "When Bad Things Happen to Good People" and "Stop Worrying and Start Living." |

I do get "cute" and "ego boosting" requests such as wanting to have a certain pendant/amulet I used, usually after having a "good luck" kinda themed routine...and if I do give it away, it's always tagged with "remember, it's all in your head"...

Its all in the mind, and this truth. Sometimes, we do certain (apparent) rituals for this or that person so as to help them access the healer within themselves...if it takes some incense, holy water, and a candle, then so mote it be, for this is what the mystic, Shaman, Priest has been doing from times immemorial.
When one does this to cheat, to rob, to brainwash a would be client, then they are sliding down the slippery slope...but when one does this so as to rid the said client of worries, fear, and even the desire to recieve healing from another being, well then, the job is done, and I accept... you see, there is a way to help these kind of people, yet ween them from seeking such so-called miracles...it is a razor's edge youre walking, but it must be trod by some one... Listen, I give initiations in Voudou whenever the moment presents itself...I have seen people come into it with the hope of gaining powers, with the hope of controlling others etc...the reason is always a desire for Power...then, as time went on, I have seen them move away from such desirous cravings, and more into themselves...you see by giving them intitiation, you are giving them back their SELF...for when all cravings for this or that power finally cease, the would be intitiate it left standing where they were all along...here, NOW... of course the magic(k) like you and I and others do around here are bound to raise the eyebrows of the superstitious ones...but such mind thought is so deeply embedded in the various cultures it will always have it place...we appear to have the answers to the other side of this existence, so what do you think will happen...they will look to us for answers...we will show them their SELF, if anything at all... and yes, it is possible to heal another by a simple glance, a touch, a word...and even holy waters and things of this sort...for what you are doing is opening them up to their own mind...they are becoming receptive, open, even if for a moment...and, the moment is all we have... s/he who hath ears let them hear....eyes, let them see... |

Hello
Yes, I've been asked to do just that quite a few times. One of my 'routines' for this is a very simple card force (am I allowed to say that on the forum?). Firstly I get them to choose any tarot card, face unseen, and it turns out to be 'The Devil', sure evidence that they have some evil forces attached to them. Next I will perhaps (with their permission) touch them on their head, telling them that I am driving away these forces. Now I will get them to choose another tarot card, again face unseen. I leave the chosen card face down as I explain that the most positive and luck tarot is 'The World', and if the bad forces have been driven away then this tarot will show itself. They then turn over the chosen tarot and of course it is 'The World'. This is simple to do and there are many impromptu methods. It has always been very effective for me. This situation has happened mostly when I have been tarot reading. Keith Hart

Well put, Baba. All those sleights and gimmicks and stuff are all part of the magick, are themselves magickal. Ask any shaman.

I love your current posts PKG! These are great questions! I think Baba's answer is right on........I would only add that those people who are seeking "the truth" intensely are often the most superstitious and gullible. You should understand psychology as much as possible and be able to "read" people well before you put them on a fool's path.......you should want to actually help them while you are fooling them......this will insure that they return happy and that your money is well earned! (remember, dark forces have a habit of returning to their creator)

You are right to emphasize that one "should want to actually help them while...fooling them..." Yes, dark forces return to their creator, as the Wiccans say, threefold. I find it interesting that bizarrists seem to be such a well-read group, with interests outside the narrow range that others seem to have. A wide range of interests and open minds, what a combination! Pkg's questions are important ones, and Baba's answer is right on. When we stop asking these questions, we ossify. It is the asking of such questions that distinguishes this group from other, unnamed ones that attempt to supply ready-made answers to those who do not want to seek their own answers (or who are afraid to ask). It takes a bit of courage and daring to question every-day, mundane "wisdom," and to seek elsewhere for the answers. To look within oneself, where real wisdom lies, to look for the Universe that lies therein, to see the ego shattered into a thousand pieces before it is reassembled into one's True Self is a journey begun by asking just such questions. May we never cease to question nor lose the courage to seek the answers!

While I respect the ideas of my esteemed brother Baba,
my philosophy in this matter differs from his. I am a simple story-teller. In the tradition of storytellers, I try to enlighten, educate, and, of course, entertain. While I do a routine similar to Black Hart's, I don't do it upon request, only as part of a routine. My reason is simple, I have no desire to be responsible for unintended consequences. I am not wise enough to know what may come of affecting a person's belief system through trickery. I let the believer believe and the skeptic be skeptical. If they learn a lesson or two along the way, then I am pleased. If they are entertained, I am overjoyed. I want no more responsibility than that. Just my two cents worth -- and with full respect to those who view things differently. Dave |

Ultimately, I havent a philosophy...but this is what happens...people have always sought the mystic for healing and a myriad of others solutions to their problems...
we have to show them that they are ultimately the answer (we don't have to, but some of us are in fact able to)... it is best for more than most of us to steer clear from such an in depth, unpredictable situation...I just happen to possess, or seemingly possess a way to reach the innermost depts of the thirsty people, and I use this to uplift the minds if and when I can... ...tell 'em to take up Yoga... I love all your thoughts and answers! what wisdon all about this part of the forum!!! Bill, wonderful! let the ego shatter! |
