Does anyone know if there are any plans in the works for a life and times type book
for Tony Andruzzi? I have been expecting a nice big hardcover book to come out for years now. He's a legend! We should keep his memory alive!
What man knows he calls Science
What he has yet to learn he calls Magick Both are real! _Tony Andruzzi_ |

Oh the late nights when Tony would call me with the SPIRITS running high to talk about effects...

Friends,
I had the pleasure to meet him on two occasions. He was one of the "greats" in things bizarre. He was the inventor of a few great illusions for example "The Satan`s Chair" which I used in my illusion-show as an "opener" with great success. You will find the plans for this and other Andruzzi ideas in Abbottïs book "Tops Treasury Of Illusions". Many do not know, that he had under his name TOM PALMER a comedy act first. His wife Gloria had a bizarre act as "Vampira". I would suggest, to have a book about him written. Iïll ask Ross Johnson about it also, who was a very close friend of Tom until his death. LETS START TO WRITE ANDRUZZIïs LIFESTORY! If I can be of any help, let me know, please. ESPecially

I like the idea of writing his life story A LOT! I saw him once when I was REALLY young (as Maskelyn ye Mage). He scared the jeebers out of me (don't ask me what a "jeeber" is, because I don't know).
I'd love to help out on a project such as this. As an illustrator, I feel I could really benefit a project such as this. I don't think I need to remind everyone just how FRUSTRATING it is for some of us youngin's to hear about how fantastic Tony's effects were, and then have zero access to anything beyond a third hand account of "one time...I saw him do..." Let me propose a "what if?"... What if a group of interested bizarre magic enthusiasts pooled their resources together and produced a collection of articles on Mr. Andruzzi? The volume could begin with a biography, and career overview of the man. Some archived recollections of his work in his many personas could follow. Just a thought. |

A local Albuquerque, NM, magician, Paul Britt, grew up with Andruzzi, known then as Tom Palmer, until they were in their 20's. He would have had many interesting stories about the earlier years. Unfortunately, he now has advanced senile dementia, unable to recognize anyone. All of that information has been lost.

Tim Felix of Midwest Magic in Chicago was a close cohort, as well. He would be a marvelous resource, as would a host of Invocation regulars (Burger, Maven, etc.).

Would anyone be interested in teaming up on such a project? PM if this sounds like something you'd like to do.

So, has anyone persued this? His grand daughter was recently inquiring and asking those who had memory of Tony/Tom/Masklyn to contact her with stories. She was very nice in the few E mails we shared.

I had to search for this info but finally found it: Back in 1993 in Brother Shadow's Shadow Network it was mentioned that Terry Nosek was writing a book about Tony Andruzzi. I wonder how far he got with it and why it was never published? It might be something to check on.

We just posted Andruzzi's personal copy of Grimoire of The Mages.
It is interesting in that it is copy #180. I suspect he had held this copy for himself as the cover was done backwards, however there is also the possibility that he never issued all 250 copies. Does anyone here have some insight on this ? Ted |

Just to confirm what leapinglizards posted, I too made contact with Maskelyn's grand daughter. I related my one-time experience with the much-missed Mr. Andruzzi. Unfortunately, I don't recall his grand daughter saying when she will publish the book.

I got the impression that this was something she was putting together for her family, more than to be published, but who knows.
