Where can you get the little Planet sharpener thing that David Roth uses for his trick, the Planet?
Thanks |

Chris,
Here's a good place to start, but check in the school supply section in department stores, they might have them. Hope this helps or is at least a start. Good Luck! http://www.retrotoys.com/NoveltyToys/Glo......ener.htm

I see them all over the place online, but I cant find one for the life of me in a store. I have a friend who's a teacher, maybe I cant get him to pick me up some from one of his catologues. Where did you learn how to do the planet? From his DVD or from the L & L demo? I watched that thing about 100 times and I have the sleights down PERFECTLY, now I just need a couple pencil sharpeners.
Just my 2 cents... ~Jonton

You need a little more than just the pencil sharpeners. I won't spoil the fun for you.

I'll be honest and say that I havent purchased the effect, so I really don't know the "correct method". I've just watched carefully enough, and with knowledge of Roth's handling, I've come up with how to make the gimmick(s) and what coins to use. I absolutely love the sleights that he uses, I think his handling is amazing. The misdirection he uses is priceless.

He teaches the routine in his book, "Expert Coin Magic." on his "Classic Showpieces" video, or Ultimate Coin Magic DVD Vol. 3 (which contains "Classic Showpieces" and his "Live in Sacremento" lecture).
Scotty York took the pencil sharpeners and made the modifications neccessary to the props for David. |

At least in the area where Scotty lives and where I live, we haven't been able to find them in a number of years. More power to you if you have found what you need to do the routine, but there is quite a bit of work in duplicating the props David has. |

Its the Classic Showpieces I have found the explanation on, and I think the trick is a beautiful effect. I watched Roth perform this, and yes I followed along, but rather than guessing a method, I found out where to learn it, now I am trying to find the pieces to help me perform it, all I know is that I will need atleast 2 planets. Does David Roth have any personal contact info? I would love to have a set made for me
Thanks |
