If you have a rising card, I think a good way to do it is when you put them in the box just start talking about people telling you about cards magically rising out of the deck and while you're talking, have the card rise out of the deck.
manipulation!!!

I think you have the germ of a good idea.
This would work well with a kid audience. They love the stuff that they see but the magician doesn't(?) I would use jumbo cartoon cards. Perhaps three previously selected cards would rise, each in a different way. Prior to the rising, I could go on about the tremendous difficulty in finding 3 cards without even knowing their identities. (over-acting here) They would then start rising, without my knowledge. You know the old standard stuff; covered with a silk, second one comes up, back outward, and the third is the gimmicked turn-around card. I could probably come up with a half dozen new ways after giving it some thought. But I like the premise you have. I work with a partner so I could accuse her of pulling the card up from the deck when I wasn't looking. We could have some funny interplay with that. I could either see the last card rise-up and turn around (being really surprised) or pretend that my assistant is showing off by finding the selected cards, stealing the spotlight from me. Her attitude, of course would be bewilderment. (Kind of a Laurel & Hardy skit) I see good possibilities here. Thanks. A good premise is greatly appreciated and worth it's weight in gold (ask any cartoonist) Remember, "The mighty oak was once just a little nut" Samuel Clemens

Good idea! A fellow magician friend of mine did a similar effect to my girlfriend a couple of years ago. Using McBrides Kundilini? Rising he had her sit in a chair holding the deck above her head. He than had her grasp the pack (which is in the box) tightly, then slowly talked her into releasing her grip. Slowly the card began to rise up, first pushing up the flap on the box. I think the best part was she could not see the deck so she did not realize what was going on. It was really well put together.

you can do this effect with a pk gimmick, it's pretty cool.

Yeah! It's cooler if the gimmick is magnetic also.
