I saw a reference to this in the PCT book. I can already pretty much figure out at least one effect for myself just based on that comment, but I really want to read the original routine.
Where can I find it? |

Haha. This could actually be made to an "impromptu" BLIND oil and water effect. E.g. separating bills with the word "DEAD" from bills with the word "ALIVE" under a table.
Sorry for speaking to myself, here. For those who understand, please elaborate around the concept. |

I tried this out and it was a real hit. I felt like a blind german woman all the way.
Two spectators on the opposide side of the table. They got five small billets each. They wrote their names on "their" slips. One of the spectators mixed the billets face down and verified that the only thing that differed was the writing. More mixing under the table. He now handed me (still under the table) one slip at a time. I crumbled it and sorted them into two piles on the table. One pile in front of each spectator. Then they opened the billets themselves. Everything could be examined. Needless to say - they were stunned. Has this been described before somewhere? I just made this up while I waited for someone to point me to the Telecolor cards original routine. (Is THIS what telecolor cards is about?) |

Gus,
The original Telecolor Cards were a marketed item (maybe they still are) which contained 5 different colored cards about bridge size. Anyone can reverse one of the cards, seal them in envelopes, and you know which one is reversed. Over the years there have been other routines based on this principle. It sounds like what you are talking about is different. Richard |

Mr. Ostlerind,
Are you referring to Technicolor Prediction by Mr. Lewis? Best regards, Michael

Gus- In telecolor cards, the gaff is diagonal so any reversal would be detectable. In your effect, the gaff would be horizontal and vertical (I presume). That's a good application of the principle. You could also do a sort of Q&A/PseudoPsychometry thing using the principle that would alert you to one specific participant. You don't have to do a power more than once to prove a power. Whenever mentalism is tedious, it is usually from overproving.
I am sure your application would be original, but you may not be the first to think of it...it's a natural application. It would be fun to have a booklet of ideas using the priniciple. There is a name to this principle, but it slips my mind. Can someone else please fill in with the name of the principle?

Just for information the cards are still available.
Do a search for "Telepathy Card" at Hocus-Pocus and you'll find three diffrent types (the coloured ones, ESP-cards and Three shell monte cards). Re. the name of the principle I've also forgotten that, but wasn't it something with "grain" referring to the paper grains in the cards ? All the Best Magnus |

I believe the methodology for the Tel-A-Color card effect was called the Fillman Principle. Of course, Fillman it is, remember it now. Thanks Joe for clearing this out ! Know I have an older book (or magazine) where it's thorough explained together with several routines, but have forgotten where...seems I begin to get old...or have to many books... or both... And Telecolor Prediction by Lewis is a $35 effect with envelopes and etc...with comedy, as I recall. Totally different.
